AIBU to think this CBBC game to teach 7-11yr olds touch typing is incredibly sexist and to want to do something about it

Hello all
I was trying to find a touch typing tutor for my teens and I came across this CBBC game called Dance Mat typing for 7-11 year olds which I think is incredibly sexist and offensive, the women/girl characters are grossly stereotypical with huge lipstick lips and batting eyelids and girly voices. I know it is cartoonlike but please, do we not expect better for our children! IMO this should not be acceptable in a learning setting! I have complained to BBC.
here is the link
www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z3c6tfr and here is link to complain if you wish to
www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/complain-online/
Thanks

So is the problem that it creates an unrealistic expectation of femininity to female hippos?

I think for any typist hippopotami, body shaming is the least of their problems. They're gonna be mashing the keyboard to bits with their fucking great feet.

Poor mrs hippo will never be able to apply for that admin job, however much slap she uses. :(

I warn you there is a pole dancing ostrich on there and a twerking gerbil.

I'll have a look at the animal typing one and see if it suits.

My ds' school recommended Dance Mat so I assumed it would be ok. I didn't find it on the apps for his window computer so we are using another one called Animal Typing which is great.

Dance mat typing has been around for at leat 8 years! I remember my sister showing me it when she used it in primary school. I highly doubt that anything you say now is going to cause that much of a stir.

Dance Mat has been great teaching dd2 t touch type. I must admit to being quite fond of the Belly Dancing Hippo and Bull in Lederhosen.

I'm not getting why they are offensive?

Batting eyelids are we going to complain about Daisy Duck Minnie Mouse lady from lady and the tramp? Even Anna and Elsa?!

Lipstick - flintstones, Marge Simpson many other "adult" cartoon characters.

In short op do your kids watch any cartoons at all because sure if your going to complain about all of them.

Ricardo the make octopus has a pink beak.
And the cockerel seems to have a set of inflamed bollocks attached to his beak.

I'm not sure what conclusions to draw from this though.

Fabulous game. I've recommended it to many people in the past. Don't see it as remotely sexist.

If you go and repost on the feminist board you'll get far far more people agreeing with you.

'Outraged' Grin.

Hope you managed to get some work done, and you all weren't too busy 'furiously googling' the complaints department/Daily Mail....

hahahahaha!

Usually I'm first with the "sexism is a problem even if it's very minor" but this is too minor even for me.

Obviously a very different demographic on here than at my work who were all outraged!
