Yes and no. I want to like my MiL but I do struggle with her - she has given me a hard time about just about every aspect of my parenting decisions- so I do read with vague fascination. She hasn't got a patch on some of the Mumsnet mils though...!

I always think 'what would be the mils view?' And for every older batshit woman there will be a younger one in training ...so as many evil dils as there are mils ..

Some of them are so insane I wonder if they're true.

Was it on this forum where a MIL was trying to find out what medicine she needed to make her lactate so she could join in with the feeding with her first grandchild?

I'm sure some of them are made up because people know MIL threads are like red flags to a bull!

Yes and no!

I had an ace mil and I believe I am an ace mil. I actually am really grateful to anyone loving my kids and being brave enough to take them on. Grin

However my dm had a vile mil cow bag.

Some of the threads on here make me gasp. Just awful.

I am so worried that in loving my dil I could over step the mark on helping so always post on mumsmet for views. Grin

Agree op love the threads as long as I don't recognise one from my dil! Grin

Oh I remember a thread one time about a vase shaped like a vagina, that wasn't on here was it? I'm sure I was living in the US back then.
My MIL has never met our youngest two and the oldest one wouldn't know her if he fell over her he's 27 and saw her last when he was 3.
I wish I'd had access to Mumsnet back then, I had no one to help with all her madness.

I got slightly addicted to the "dealing with in-laws" board on babycenter us when I was on maternity leave. There were kidnapping, assaults, unauthorised sex toy usage, people building ramps on other people's houses, vases shaped like vagina as Christmas presents, intentional poisoning, mother son spooning... good times, good times.

I feel relief I have not suffered a MIL that bad, in spite of having 3 of them! Grin

The first was a bit of an evil old trout, once she 'forgot' my birthday, even though she had told my H to make sure that he took me there on the day, and made me choose my own card!

Then 2nd was a bit controlling, butted in a lot with children, but her intentions were the best, so I took it all like that!

The 3rd, when my DP had too much to drink and decided to punch me decided I was overreacting when I phoned the police! Still, I don't have to go there again! We have a great relationship on the phone though! She is still my MIL, as I threw DP out for a year after this event and he had a lot of work to do to make it up!

Still, none of them were as bad as some on here.
