To hate having workmen in the house?

Currently having a new kitchen and have workmen in the house as a result, I hate it! I have quite a responsible job and have no problem in making small talk under normal circumstances but as soon as someone comes into my house I loose the ability to speak. I actually feel like it's not my house I feel so uncomfortable. I tried to convince my mum to stay at my house for me but she wouldn't Hmm Very unfair!!!
Can't wait for them to leave!!!!!

We're having the bathroom done next week. I have no idea how I'm supposed to behave so I'm taking the kids to my mother's a hundred miles away. I organised the bloody thing in the first place, DH can deal with it now.

I usually hide in another room or go out, I had a lot of work done by one particular workman that I trusted, friend of a friend, so didn't worry about leaving him.

I am a work erm woman? I don't take the slightest bit if notice what people do in their own home when I'm there. love customers who just say hello, I'll be around if you need anything and leave me to it. obviously it's nice to be chatty but I'm always really aware that I am being paid to work and a chat that lasts longer than 5 minutes makes me feel like I'm skiving!

As far as tea and biscuits go, usually a cuppa in the morning and one mid afternoon always goes down well (not expected, always take a flask, people don't get brews made in other professions etc etc) don't give me anymore as I might need to ask to use the toilet and we all know how well that goes down on here Grin

I am so glad it's not just me! Have people working on the house at the moment and I makes me feel uncomfortable.
They are working in the outside if the house and I just felt watched all the time! I'm sure they weren't the slightest but concerned with what we was doing but I was really conscious of the face they where there! ????

I get very anxious when there are people in the house, and as it's council property I don't get much choice when things are done. I tend to leave cups and drink materials on the worktop and let whoever is in know that they're welcome to make a brew and use the loo then I retreat to the sofa or my room with a book.

I'm due an electrical check soon, and I know the house needs a rewire. I'm dreading it.

We had an electrician in yesterday to look at the dishwasher and as we've got an open plan house it was very awkward.

He was really nice and very friendly (didn't think it was odd being asked to stroke the new puppy) but it was lunch time and I was starving. He was here about an hour and left having had 2 mugs of tea, a bacon sandwich and some scones hot out of the oven!

I find it really hard not to hover over workmen it seems rude sitting outside and leaving them to, so I feed them instead!
