AIBU?

very wealthy ex pil moving to seven oaks gloating about free unlimited travel

My ex pils have just moved to seven oaks. They are very wealthy (partner of doctors s) and a big reason was so that they will get unlimited London travel for the rest of their lives. This amounts to almost 10k a year.

I'm pissed as they've never paid London council tax and could easily afford the travel cost and for me it's a huge expense I need to pay to work. I just wish they would stop going on bout it. Very unthoughtful and they are just out to get free stuff regardless of if they need / deserve it.

Maybe OP is annoyed they've made it to 65?

Sevenoaks? I got bored, rolled it up neatly so as not to tip the people out of their houses, put it in my rucksack and moved it to a nice empty bit of common in between Dulwich Village and West Norwood, Worra.

Do we think that these are real Ex PIL's who have genuinely moved to Sevenoaks who are just mindfucking playing with the OP because they really can't stand her as she disapproved of their swinging lifestyle?

Yes. Yes we do.

Another case cracked by the flying accountant Grin

Oh - x-posted with Kew.

I had not considered the 'wind up the sour faced DIL' option.

I think it's depressing that the average troll expects that wealthy+in laws+elderly+benefit is likely to score high on the pantomime villain scale.

Trolls are fucking dullards though.

Sevenoaks is very pretty but def in Kent.

The op is confused. Perhaps her outrage affects her geographical knowledge?
When my PIL pisses me off I forget how to do complex multiplication.

My very wealthy ex PIL's ex partner's doctor's partner has moved to New Castle. They can't stop bragging about all the cheap stotty cakes they're guzzling. I'm pissed. AIBU?

I see no-one is begging me to expand my financial analysis to off-set the cost of the petrol Hmm You lot don't deserve me.

My Dad has met several girlfriends through his long bloody tedious bus trips. It's a market waiting to be developed - on-bus dating for the over 65's

Pensioners can get free bus travel all over the place. It's bloody disgraceful Hmm

Or they could stay home and get jiggy. Which is much cheaper.

A gov't campaign is needed.

Is that what you're hoping for OP?

Come back and tell us.

There were actually Seven oaks but 6 of them blew down in the hurricane/wind of 1987, seven were replaced (bizarre) so now there are Eight Oaks.

Mind you they'd have to factor in the cost of petrol from Sevenoaks to Gravesend - should I factor that in [worried] then they'd have to do even more bus trips to make their pass worth £5,000 but technically it would be more accurate.

Cos I is quite well informed (thank eee very kindly) I woz not assuming that they woz using any train travel in London.

To be fair having read the Kent Country Council website you can also use it on the Gravesend to Tilbury ferry which off peak costs £3 so they could actually rack up £5,000 with say 500 ferry crossings a year say 10 a week with a two week holiday which after all is only 5 return journeys a week. Which would then only require them to spend £3,500 which is only 2333.33 journeys a year each or 46.66 journeys per week (allowing again this time for a two week holiday) thats only 23.33 return journeys per week or 3.33 return bus journeys a day. [Overinvested emoticon]

Well it's one way to fill your retirement...

So you are annoyed because they get free travel in Kent, and think they shouldn't because they are well off? Yabu

Report
UnspecialSnowflake · 18/06/2015 15:38

Sevenoaks is in Kent, my DM lives there. They'll get free bus travel within Kent, so if they want to spend between one and three hours on a bus they can go to Bluewater or Margate or Bromley. Most of the over sixties just use it for popping to the shops though, hardly gadding about, but there's no free train travel.

actually a london freedom pass does cover all bus and underground travel, just not peak mainline travel. but given they're not eligible this is pointless. .. ....

Deepthroat in Sevenoaks?! Darling, please!!

Report
MaggieJoyBlunt · 18/06/2015 15:35

You wouldn't say 'partner OF doctor' if it was a doctor who was also a partner, would you.

I suspect hope the deepthroat intersects with the story somewhere. All very worrying
