To buy contact lenses online?

I'm due a lens check, which I will certainly go to as soon as I can but Specsavers can't give me a flipping appointment outside of my working hours before 6 weeks! I'm about to run out of lenses. Would just getting some online be daft?

Its perfectly possible to use daysoft even though you have astigmatism. Daysoft are spherical lenses and they dont make torics but generally, low values of astigmatism van easily be accomodated by spherical lenses. Even if you do order on line, it is imperative to have a full eye exam at least annualy as many conditions can be diagnosed via eye exams and many are nothing to do with eyesight !

I also use VisionDirect and have no problems with them

Daysoft. Been happily using their daily disposables for years. Also I think you have to confirm you've had an eye/lens check within the last 2 years. Would recommend them highly!

I use daysoft for mine. I still get my monthlys from Specsavers (plus I get my eye test/lens check every year too) but now I'm pregnant i cant wear the monthly disposables anymore, my eyes are too dry so use a mix of days off dailies and my glasses.

I got mine from Daysoft for years. Only stopped because I developed astigmatism and you can't get toric lenses from Daysoft. They were great.

Vision Direct here too! I get the minimum amount per month from Vision Express in the high street to get lens aftercare and sight checks included to make sure my eyes are all healthy, but buy the bull.of my lenses online from Vision Direct

I use Daysoft too. £5.99 a box of 30 IIRC and 25p for p&p.

Is vision direct that one with the awful advert where the woman's life is suddenly awful if she has to go to work with glasses on?

Just checked the vision direct site. Looks like they get round the requirement for a prescription by using a sister European site? Asdas are cheaper for my lenses, only £9 a box of 30 daily disposables.

If you wear lenses then you should get your eyes checked annually. It's illegal to dispense lenses without a valid prescription

I found Second Sight Contact Lenses to be v gd and cheaper than Vision Direct

Why do you have to get your eyes checked regularly if your sight seems the same? It's a year since I've had mine checked. Is there a reason for going more often?

I like the haribo too Lolly. I think all post should contain sweets.

"but the on-line supplier will need to check with your optician and isn't allowed to supply them unless you've got uptodate aftercare"

That is not true.

I do get my eyes checked at Specsavers, but I just tell them I buy the same lenses online. They are happy with that.

I have never been asked for a copy of my prescription or information about my optician- online companies don't care.
I buy my lenses from contactlenses.co.uk- fast delivery and very cheap.

another vote for VisionDirect - very easy. I have only bought from them twice - but both very straightforward.

Fine to buy them online but make sure you have an up to date prescription and buy the exact ones prescribed.

I use vision direct you don't need a prescription as long as u know ur lenses strength they trust you to get regular checks on your eyes etc. it's next day delivery I've never had any problems . I also like the fact you get a little pack of haribo and a calendar with your order Grin

I didn't have a problem with lenses bought online but the supermarket solution made my eyes red and sore, so I went back to Specsavers. You can get another pair if you call them up, not sure how quickly they'll be delivered.

I use VisionDirect too

Getting them on-line is fine - they'll be exactly the same lenses, but the on-line supplier will need to check with your optician and isn't allowed to supply them unless you've got uptodate aftercare
