It was recorded when Peaches Geldof was still alive and was fair comment on her appearance on a TV show.

As I recall from watching the show at the time, she did come across as empty-headed, self-obsessed and downright rude. That she subsequently died in horrible circumstances doesn't alter the fact that in this particular programme both she and to a marginally lesser extend, Fearne Cotton came across as a right pair of dicks. Dying did not turn her into a secular saint beyond all reproach.

If he'd recorded this on the day of her death and then emailed the link to grieving relatives then you'd have had a point. Maybe.

To take a pertinent example of another young woman who died in awful circumstances, should Youtube retrospectively take down the footage and newspapers redact the critical comments they made when Jade Goody subjected Shilpa Shetty to racist bullying on Celebrity Brother? The fact that she subsequently died doesn't (or shouldn't) obscure the fact that on that occasion she acted like a pig-ignorant racist bully.

It's just Charlie Brooker. I like his screen wipe - he must be either a complete hoot to live with, or utterly draining. I can't decide which. You'd have to ask Connie Huq.

I always liked Peaches. RIP. I feel fond of all the Geldofs (without having known any of them personally of course).

I remember this programme, didn't Peaches spend most of it napping, so fearne wotsit would ask her a question or meet her to see what she was up to and she would just take off and have a nap? - it was hilarious and it was obviously made at a time when Peaches was still revelling in her infamy as a wild child celeb. She died in tragic circumstances but she was no saint. The programme and review was done years ago. I'm really uncomfortable with idea of rewriting someones past antics on account of how young/old/tragic their demise was.

Why? It's a horrible shame that she died the way she did but this was from ages ago and it does look like a seriously crap program ...

Right. I'm failing to see what's wrong with it...

I believe Fearne herself said Peaches was a twat or similar after interviewing her.

Peaches died tragically young, it doesn't make her a saint retrospectively.

I think the Charlie Brooker review is fine and after all was made long before she died. What are really offensive and shocking are some of the comments posted about it by You Tube viewers ShockSad.

Totally misjudged. It was hilarious. I'll be watching you tube clips all night now!

Hadn't seen that for years. Quite sad in retrospect, quite a tragic character. Completely fair game at the time though.

It was broadcast when Peaches was alive, famous and therefore 'fair game'. It's tragic she died so young, but I don't see why censoring comedy is a good thing.
Love Charlie Brooker BTW.

Can you explain WHY you want it taken down OP or do you just want everyone to report it because you say so?

CaptainAnkles · 05/01/2015 21:17

You can't expect people to go back and erase anyone saying anything nasty about those who have since died. Where on earth would it end?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 05/01/2015 21:03

Oh that was hilarious! I loved the bit with the two of them in the car and the bit when Peaches said that she was really into quantum physics which was why she was so spiritual.

Thanks for posting that, it was brilliant.

The funniest thing is, because of the lack of some capital letters in your title, I thought this was going to be Charlie doing something dodgy with fruit......slightly disappointed!

If you participate in a TV programme then you can expect it to be reviewed. That's what Charlie Brooker was doing. Should any criticism of Peaches Geldof be completely wiped out of history now she's died? The programme was a pile of vacuous shit, it's not offensive for people to say so.

Peaches Geldof herself was hardly shy of sharing her opinions on twitter.

He's fantastic and I urge you to watch the Wipe on catch up of 2014.

Does dying mean that you're immune from criticism, and that criticism made when you're alive has to be expunged?
