travelling on a bus at school kicking out time and school kids got on and sat by me and 4 year old ds, they start effing and jeffing, they couldn't be older than 13/14.

Anyway I let that go until one of them calls the other a fucking cunt so I turn to them ask could they watch their language please.

They do watch their language but are still mumbling.

Then I thought balls, should I have said that? So, wibu?

Christ HelenHen, I'm very glad you don't live next door to me.

Whether you agree or not, society agrees with me. It's one of those courtesy things that make getting along with people so much easier and more pleasant.

Swearing and cursing somehow doesn't seem to have the same effect.

So nanny, you find something unacceptable, for no valid reason, and expect everyone to monitor their speech according to how you like it?

Entitled much? Wink

Fair enough Havanna! As we have concluded, my kids will be as 'respectful' as yours cos I too follow the herd. Shame things have to be that way! I will always question why people expect it to be their way though!

For the 'respectful' bunch, you're all fairly confrontational, it has to be said!

So Helen, unless someone can give a reason that you deem acceptable, you will continue to swear in public, even if you know you're offending someone.
Because you want to. And you enjoy it.

Entitled much?

It doesn't upset me but it upsets others and one of my jobs as a parent is to bring up my dc to respect others feelings.

Although I don't think little children swearing sounds very nice and I think parents who think it's okay, or who teach them to do it because they think it's fine or cute are twats and a bit thick.

You know I've said that there's a difference between actually telling someone to fuck off... And being overheard saying it! In the ops case, which is what we're discussing, she was not told to fuck off, nor was her pfb! The words had nothing to do with her. If she, personally, finds something inappropriate, it is her job to teach her kid why, NOT the job of this 13 year old! You cannot control others!

And, yet again, WHY does it upset you? You really nneed to think about that!

And swearing loudly in public when you know it might upset people has nothing to do with finding their own personality

I never said other kids would juge them. No I dont think the op should have reported them, id have just asked them to tone it down in front of the little ones.

You say im saying stuff and demanding you agree, so you would think it was ok if your dc swore at a teacher then?

Ooh, HelenHen you're such a rebel. Hmm

It's clearly rude and can be intimidating to swear in public. I think c* is particularly offensive as it's so misogynistic. Sad that young people are trotting that word out in particular.

Report
HelenHen · 01/05/2014 15:13

And I know PARENTS would judge them, not other kids! Parents are the judgy ones!

Report
HelenHen · 01/05/2014 15:11

Havanna lol now you're just saying stuff and demanding I agree... I don't! Do you really think the op was right to report this kid? Do you think that's what we should be teaching kids is acceptable? Just be a sneaky cow and report eachother? Nope! Kids should be encouraged to find their own personality! I really can't believe

It's not wrong Mrs! I wouldn't swear to a customer cos I do what I'm told if I'm being paid! Just like I wouldn't turn up to an interview with a Mohawk! Nothing wrong with Mohawks even in public... But if you want the job you play along to a stupid set of rules!

Yes I'm reading your posts and you are a hypocrite. Come on, you know what people will think of your dcs if they call someone a fucking cunt as a child and you don't want people judging them. Parents will feel the same way about your dc if they hear them calling someone a fucking cunt as a teenager, no difference there.

What if you dcs teacher is being a fucking cunt is it okay for them to say it? No I don't think so.

If you want your dc to have an easy life teaching them about respecting others and when it is or isn't appropriate to swear in public

Havanna are you deliberately ignoring me,

I don't think swearing is wrong at all and I think this woman is absolutely ridiculous for reporting them to the school! There are many things that I will do to make life easy for my kids cos they are my everything, NOT the pc brigade! My kids can make their own choices when they want and if they're a teenager and a friend is being a fucking cunt then yes, they can call them a fucking cunt!

Report
HavannaSlife · 01/05/2014 14:47

Exactly, because you know people will judge so you conform like everyone else.

So all your crap about swearing loads, not seeing why dc shouldn't swear is pointless rubbish really isn't it? Seeing as you don't do it, even if you can't understand why people find it offensive.

I'm always one to stick up for the teens, but YANBU. I love teens even especially the cheeky ones! But if they need to be told about their language, tell them.

Martorana · 01/05/2014 14:41

Apart from the judgement of others then, you would have no problem with your child calling another child a fucking cunt ? Yeah, right.

Report
HelenHen · 01/05/2014 14:37

Havanna have you read any of my posts? Grin

I will not allow my kids to swear, only because I know people would judge!

I did actually swear loads in front of my colleagues, as did they! I wouldn't swear to a customer though.

I have said that I know people find it offensive but also that I don't care because I have nit been given any good reasons as to why it's offensive

Report
HavannaSlife · 01/05/2014 14:30

So you don't allow your dc to swear and you don't swear at work, probably because you know people find it offensive.

I think your intention here is to goad, really you are just like the rest of use Grin

I smell bullshit

Myrtle well put! I'm not in favour of aggression, whether accompanied by swearing or not, regardless of how rough this lot must think I am!

Tis amazing I have so many great friends really!

A private conversation is less private when it's loud enough to be heard by everybody else. If people can't keep their own conversation private, how can they complain about people having an opinion?

Keep swearing away, Helen. It obviously makes you feel good about yourself and at the same time lets other people know to avoid you.
