Sorry ginmakesitallok im just back to this now. I stopped using it as I was only, using it a couple of times a day and wanted to be free of nicotine.

Sorry if I offended anyone by saying your not a non-smoker, you are. I have just come across a good 4 or 5 people who lecture me to quit and brag about how easy it is and still run out for cigarettes if they cant use their ecig. Those people annoy me, not those who use ecigs in general.

I also wasn't saying you will get depression etc just thatI did and I scared my shitless and I would hate to feel that way again so I am staying a smoker. I do have an ecig though for those times when I cant smoke, in work for 5 hours etc.

TalisaMaegyr - good for you.

Honestly, you'll noticeably save so much money and feel so much better you'll never go back to real cigs.

I spent approx £36 weekly on cigs. Now I spend £30 monthly on e-liquid.

Im really sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke now, tho..even walking past a smoker, Im embarassed to think I used to smell like that. You don't realise when you're smoking just how much you and your home reek. Never again.

I'm a non smoker but several of my colleagues have given up smoking recently using e-cigs. We had a chat in the office about it and all agreed that we're happy for them to 'smoke' in the office - much better and more productive than having them disappear for fag breaks ten times a day!

Good on them I say - and they no longer stink of fags, either. Much nicer for everyone!

Right. I've done it. I'm just about to go and smoke my last real cigarette, and then tomorrow I start vaping full time. I only bought the kit today and have had a few puffs this evening watching telly, but after tonight, that's it. I'm going to put a tenner a day in a jar, just so I can see it mounting up. Wish me luck girls, after reading all your success stories, you have inspired me Grin

Plenty - point taken, you are entirely right. I feel even better about vaping now Grin

Basset - I can't stand all the sweetie type flavours & want a tobacco flavour.

The best I've found is The Sherlock from:

www.ecigwizard.com/e-liquid/wizmix/the-sherlock.html

If you some over to our vape thread there will be even more suggestions.

The other thing to do is to go to your local independent e cig shop & have a chat. They will almost certainly let you try a few flavours.

Mistress - Its still smoking.

Nooo it isn't, that's the whole point! There is no burning and no smoke, which is why there are not the several thousand toxic chemicals in it. You're inhaling vapour - i.e. steam.

It's still nicotine, but the risks associated with that are similar to caffeine, so it's hard to care too much.

Basset, nothing tastes much like tobacco at all IME. You might want to try some of the Hangsen RY range - I like a mix of RY4 and RY6 - it's the most tobacco-esque flavour I have found so far. Come over to the vaping thread and ask there, you'll get more suggestions.

Purple, yes it's a lot in savings although not going out for cigs every day also means not buying other crap so there's that to factor in...

Someone up thread had too good an experience of Champix. Just goes to show how things like that react differently to different people's individual biochemistry.

I wouldn't think of buying fags of my battery ran out, I would think of buying a cigalike though. I had one puff on a real cigarette about 5 months ago, it was awful, and I can't believe I used to smoke 30 of them a day.

Toad, why did you stop using your ecig?

Report
Perfectlypurple · 02/03/2014 15:31

I've been fine on champix. I was a bit worried as I have generalized anxiety disorder so thought I would be prone to it but apart from vivid dreams I have been fine

Report
Ledare · 02/03/2014 15:10

This is why I have five batteries and three chargers and about twenty bottles of liquid Grin I couldn't smoke a cig now.

I happily admit to being addicted to nicotine, but I have stopped smoking cigarettes.

Champix made me severely depressed and anxious as well. It was quite terrifying and I'm still on medication.

TOADfan · 02/03/2014 14:47

They worked for me. I quit for 8 months (a month using an ecig then nothing) but got bad depression so I went back on the cigarettes which stopped the sucidal feelings. Same happened on champix. I think Im just not meant to be a non smoker.

I cant stand people though who use them constantly and brag about being a non smoker and when the battery dies runs out to get a pack of cigarettes..no your not a non smoker grr.

Blimey £570 in five weeks is a lot of cigarettes! I have saved about £100 in around 2 weeks. Im on day 13 now and am thinking about it less now. I breathe better and I notice the smell on others now. I wish I had given up a long time ago.

Report
Ledare · 02/03/2014 11:16

I've just worked out that I've saved £570 in five weeks Shock

And I buy a lot of batteries and liquids. Christ. That's actually embarrassing.

FruitbatAuntie · 02/03/2014 10:58

Yes, yes yes! (For me, anyway)

I tried a cheap cartomiser one that looked like a cigarette, that was okay but didn't really give me that 'throat hit'. So I bought a refillable one and juices from my local Totally Wicked (there are several e-cig shops in my small town and all seem fine, just chose that one as my friend recommended it). Never looked back (or smoked) since!

I turned to vaping almost 3 months ago and I don't actually feel like I've given up smoking at all.
It somehow feels wrong to say I have given up smoking when I've merely exchanged smoking one thing for another.

Apart from that, I breathe easier, my sense of smell has returned and is not particularly forgiving towards smokers (they smell worse than I previously thought imo),no coughing, and I'm able to smoke in so many more places than before.
I have smoked for approx 30 years and it has never been this easy. There is nothing difficult about it for me. It is similar to changing brand to me.

I have saved myself a small fortune and have become one of those people who silently gulp at the price of a pack of 20 now.

I can't believe I paid that much. I think I just turned a blind eye to what I was doing before because I couldn't see an alternative.
Vaping is my alternative.

They worked for me. Id been smoking for 26 years and had tried to give up numerous times. Nothing worked except e-cigs, and following on from that, vaping. Its still smoking. But at least its not 4000 chemicals every time you have a smoke. You do feel the difference -more energised, better skin & sense of smell, etc..& my windows are clean. I hadnt realised nictotine build ups make your windows so filthy. Its nice not having to deal with the smell too, ecigs/vaping don't give off any aroma.

I tried Champix, too..they didn't stop me smoking but I had to come off them as they made me feel so good..! They gave me the best sleep I had in years, and I was in a happy mood every day. Nice as that was, I thought Id best stop them or Id be addicted to the high they gave me Smile

Yes - they're great. Mine is from Totally Wicked and I love it. I haven't smoked for 14 months now. I like the menthol best - goes down a treat with a nice glass of white wine!

There has been research on what is in vapour - and it has shown no levels of significant harm. Google is your friend!

squidbob There is no evidence that the vapour can cause any issues and I have not read any reports of any, however no research (that i am aware of) has been done.
