I am talking about the newest song by the latest X factor monkey, I don't know his name.

At 3pm on the school run the LAST thing I want to hear is vulgar lyrics about cumming and sex.

I hate it.

Oh frankie goes to Hollywood. Relax, don't do it, when you want suck to it! (Weeps for my younger self who would sing this at full volume aged 10! )

Bruno Mars must have major tickets on himself in bed to write that Gorillas song. I bet in real life he is shit in bed and has a tiny penis!

Oh and had never even really thought about the lyrics of the James Arthur one, but they are not particularly offensive are they? So what if he sings about Shock sex in a rather subtle way?

Don't you remember being young.......im sure there were songs just the same then. For me it was "Relax" by Frankie goes to Hollywood. Was even banned by radio stations by being too explicit. Only made people listen to it more. Lol!!

None of these are a patch on the filthy lyrics of "212" by azalea banks - top ten chart hit from last year (or 2011)

"She know where I get mine from and the season
Now she wanna lick my plum in the evenin'
And fit that tongue tongue d-deep in
I guess that cunt gettin' eaten
I guess that cunt gettin' eaten
I guess that cunt gettin' eaten
I guess that cunt gettin' eaten
I guess that cunt gettin'..."

Sung with a massive shit -eating grin on her face in the video.

I rather like it actually even though I'm old enough to know better

The clean version had so many bleeps and silences in it you could hardly recognise it.

If its any consolation to those with daughters, i was 6 when chain reaction came out, knew it word for word. The words mean nothing to me though, and actually still didn't until you lot pointed it out.

Friend was shocked when she heard her 4 yo singing along to Rihanna .... I think some lyrics are a lot more graphic.

YANBU though, I don't mind a bit of innuendo, but some things are a bit too much! What happened to radio edits?

That Bruno Mars "Gorilla" was playing on one of the concessions in Boots this morning when I was in getting my granola- "Ooh, yeah you and me baby we'll be fuckin' like gorillas". Not even bleeped out. Felt older than my years when I thought to myself " is that appropriate?".

Filth's been around for years. That wasn't a lamp post George Formby was leaning on.

Its not necessary to like or approve of every single song you hear on the radio

35 years old and have ever questioned Chain Reaction!

I pranced around singing "Like a virgin, touched for the very first time" as a child.

This stuff has been going on for years, I can't get too hoiky about it tbh. However, I can chose to not let DD watch the music channels and stop her singing inappropriate lyrics, much to her confusion!

There definitely should be a return to radio edits and maybe a watershed for certain songs. Not sure how feasible that is though.

Surprised the mummy/daddy of them all hasn't been mentioned, .

Serge and Jane are very naughty in 1969..unfortunately in French, but you get the message.

Just watched the Azalea Banks video; don't think I've even heard it before. But she is so young and so gorgeous. When did everybody start getting so much younger and so much gorgeouser than me???!

Sorry, slightly off topic.

im wondering what sort of topics should be ok for musicians and songwriters to sing about, and what happens if I like one of the ones that the government decide is not suitable for our delicate ears?

Would it just be mainstream albums that are sold that would need to conform, or would live bands not be allowed to sing about bad stuff either?

What about singing in your own house?
