She is really driving me crazy for the past 4 weeks.
ATM we are at the rehearsal and later on they have big performance. She is just mot febling concentrating and she is driving me insane. How many times can I say to her focus??? She is ten and sooooooo ready to drink last drop of my blood......

Yes disapointed is a strong word but I want her to do things the way she is capable of doing. It was at the time just so upsetting because we all want for our kids to do the best they can and she knows that not concentrating is not good enough.
I was extra upset because she is doing what she loves and she is good at it... I would never force her to do something that she doesn't want( same with other DD).
Thank you for replies..... She is sleeping since 8 pm like an angel.......

Oh dear sparkly - chillSmile either she doesn't want to upset you by saying shes had enough or she hates practice and will be ok on the night.
Don't say anything to her just take and fetch and the rest is her choice, she will sort it out with the teacher.

When I read your title I assumed you had found out your daughter had kicked the pope or denied the holocaust or something. Don't you think 'so disappointed and angry is a bit strong' for a kid playing up? I mean irritated and possibly annoyed but 'so disappointed' and furious enough to post in aibu? I wonder what you'll think when she is old enough so really disappoint you. YABU.

Sparkly the performance isn't the only place it matters! Those who find it harder to pick up need those who can do it more quickly to be focussed so that it holds together. AS Broken says it's a team effort.

Sparkly mommy. You are spot on. She is like that but she is mature enough to understand that it's a team work si everyone needs to focus.
It ended up well but at that time I was just febling going mad.... Thank you for lovely replies....

Perhaps she is bored. Or maybe she doesn't really want to do it.

On the other hand remember the old saying: "Bad last rehearsal means a fab show".

It'll be alright on the night. My dd HATES repetitively rehearsing things. She "gets" it really quickly and can't stand those that take longer to pick it up. Therefore if you saw her at most rehearsals she gets steadily worse as the day goes on. But she ALWAYS performs when it matters.

She is also 10.

That's a very good idea but parents are requested to stay during rehearsal. Grrrrrr..... I know it's age thing but it's just driving me mad when I know that dd knows what is right thing to do...... Vent over

Her behaviour is the Director's problem, why are you even there? Go find somewhere that has comfy sofas and decent cakes, you must be mad!

I wouldn't nag or keep on.

DS wouldn't listen in swimming lesson, got out early and it was hard work. I pulled him out and now just go swimming for fun.

If she isn't concentrating, not listening and not practising leave her to it, when she doesn't get the part then the message that she has to concentrate will be more effective.

I don't know. But I want to ask what is 'febling'? Is it painful?

She'll settle down. It's only a show.

Has she done a show before , being on the actual stage can be overwhelming and better she is distracted now than in performance. Why are you staying , she might focus better without you there.

Is this like one of those attention seeking FB posts where you wait for dozens of friends to ask you what's wrong?

Confused

What IS it she's doing??

Report
digerd · 06/10/2013 13:47

Is it a stage play or a dancing show dress rehearsal?

Depends what she's doing, what she is rehearsing for etc.

My girls recently had an 8 hour rehearsal day for a dance comp...They were a little bored by the end and very tired by the end of rehearsal as it was so repeatitve!

She wants to do it. , I really wouldn't make her do it if she doesn't want. It's more that she is soooo distracted with everything what is going on.... Grrrr....
