Pneumonia and professional photographer-AIBU?

My son will be given his helmet for plagiocephaly on the 19th. I know this is for his own good.

I paid through the nose to have a professional photo shoot done this Friday so I can have some nice pictures before he has to wear this 23 hours a day.

The professional photographer first cancels and then rescheduleds. She tells me she is on anti biotics for 'walking pneuomenia' . My deposit was $800. The new shooy is set for Friday. AIBU to tjonk ot is too soon and demand a refund?

Any respiratory infection from a simple cold to pneumonia is potentially infectious. As long as the photographer isn't coughing and spluttering over OP's child then there is no greater risk involved than say, catching a bus. Also, that article seems to suggest 'walking pneumonia' is caused by a particular micro-organism which could only be diagnosed on a blood or sputum test, which is very rarely done as it provides no benefit. It seems to me that 'walking pneumonia' is more commonly used as a term to describe 'mild pneumonia' ie the person doesn't need to be confined to bed/hospital.

I wouldn't worry about it. Pneumonia tends to be a secondary infection. My son had it (badly) and nobody else in the family caught it, neither did any of the other babies in paeds HDU catch it

I've never heard the phrase 'walking pneumonia' either despite 15 years as a medical student and doctor!

I had mild pneumonia in 2011 and was told it wasn't contagious - I developed it after breaking a rib. Would that be a different flavour of pneumonia though? Good luck with the photos & helmet OP!

Walking Pneumonia is the "in thing" in Hollywood. Seen a few stars day how ill they have been with it.
I think it's more of an American term than a UK one and I'm assuming as op uses dollars she might be in the US?

I thought "Walking Pneumonia" was also known as A-typical or mycoplasma Pneumonia, in that it didn't necessarily respond to penicillin, because the latter mainly works by breaking down cell walls and the pathogens with WP tend not to have cell walls? However when I had pneumonia which only responded to a macrolide antibiotic, I certainly couldn't walk. It seemed that my DH did have walking pneumonia before I did, and he coughed and spluttered all over me, but his responded to penicillin. In view of how ill I felt, personally I wouldn't take the chance.
