DH's reaction to my hairdo.

He didn't mean to be mean. But just when I was feeling a million dollars after a fairly radical colour change ...

Me: "?"
DH: "It looks exactly the same!"
Me (stepping out of shade): "?"

Me:
DH: "Oh yeah, the colour's different. But what about... did you have the car window open while you were driving?"
Me: and

Grr! Do I ignore and continue to feel a million dollars or do I rush back to salon in tears?

I wonder why my DP is different from other blokes. He always notices when I've had my hair done, my eyelash extensions etc.

DH and i were going out to an important evening function with his work. So i had my hair 'dressed', all curls in an up 'do' i felt lovely. i walked in to get my frock on and he looked at me and said 'oh dear' with a daily mail [sad face] on. I said what did he mean? and he said 'well it doesn't suit you at all does it'

I was tearful and furious, we had an almighty row and then had to go out schmoozing all night.

Df gawks at my head as soon as I walk in then stage whispers to dd ''the whales had her hair done'' then he and dd whisper away about my hair and dd tells him not to call me a whale, I'm 9 months pregnant and I've already had 2 babies blah blah she's a star

I usually have to shout at them and ask if they like it but I never get an 'oh superman you look nice' when I walk in or ever

This gives me something to add to my ever growing list of why my dad is amazing. Growing up he always noticed and told me my hair looked lovely when I'd had a cut. He also always tells me I look fab when I go out, even when my teenage self looked er....interesting or my skirt was a bit shorter than acceptable or even worse, I wore double denim!

not DH but my late dad.

on a very very hot day I had enough of my long hair, about 2 feet long.
I had a crew cut. no phasing out, just all off, but 1/2 inch.
I looked like Keanu Reeves in Speed.

when I went home my dad didn't notice, even when I turned around to go upstairs, zilch.

maybe the next morning? Nothing. my mum had to bring his attention to it!
but the hilarious part is that he was a detective in an anti-terrorist unit, where being good at observing is vital skill!

When I got my hair done for my wedding (a few weeks in advance, not the Actual Hairdo) I had 10 inches cut off and had highlights for the first time.

Do you think he noticed?!

I got bored today and cut myself a fringe. It's not brilliant. If DH ever does notice I'll tell him it's a fringe event [geek]

To be fair, I didn't notice DH had a moustache for about 2 years. He is very fair and it was just like bum fluff and I wouldn't wear my glasses.

It was only when we were on holiday and one of those people cutting out paper silhouettes for tourists did one of DH. I asked him what the extra bit of paper under his nose was !!

Dh is useless too. I cut my shoulder length, dark hair the other week. Shaved the back, cut one side short and the other side left longer (it is lovely really ) and went blonde. DH didn't notice until i pointed it out to him. His reply "oh I liked it long" said in a whiney voice . Yes he liked it so much he didn't even know it was gone .

Loads of people could give you compliments, but they fade into insignificance compared to just the one negative comment.

Some blokes are just not very observant. I turned up at XP's house with my nose pierced - red, sore, enormous new piercing stud, y'know. Eventually his sister asked if he'd noticed anything different about me. We had to tell him. He thought I'd always had it.

DH played a blinder when I had a radical change of haircut. Made all the right noises. Unlike my (admittedly slightly odd) work colleague who said "why have you gone and got a wee girl's primary school haircut? It was nicer before."

Ive posted this before but DH friend used to look on the kitchen calendar and see when his DW was going to hairdressers then when she got in he would say 'hair looks nice today love' she thought he was very observant until he did it when she had actually cancelled her appointment

DH got smart and started to take notice of my hair appointments written on the calender so he would say "your hair looks nice" (whilst probably wondering what is different).

I had to laugh the week he said this but I'd actually taken DS to the hairdressers.

I had almost waist length hair cut up to my shoulders, DP didn't notice

TBF, I don't always notice when he's had his hair cut either!

I think as a general rule straight men only really notice your attire/appearance if you are wearing a miniskirt and stockings. Possibly if you have long hair and chop it all off, on a good day. Or clown makeup.

Or you could LTB, of course.

Dh is the same.
I had mine cut/regrowth coloured today. Nothing radical, but about 1 inch shorter and drastically thinned out.

Dh comes in and says " have you been?"

I just bent down to show him the lack of grey

He is bald. No idea about hair.

My H would not notice if I did something different with my hair. Like most guys I think.
