AIBU?

To ask if any of you know any good ways to slim down/tone up the thighs?

I've always been quite slim, but since having my 3rd child, who is now 4, my thighs are so much bigger than they used to be, and also I have a muffin top just above my hips that's really hard to shift too!

I'm a weight I'm happy with (although could lose a few pounds I guess) and eat healthily, but want to get some kind of exercise routine going to try to firm my thighs up. If I can get my thighs toned again and slimmed down then it will mean I can get back into a smaller size of jeans/skirts and I'll feel so much happier with my body!

Help! :)

Body attack, body combat, squats, lunges, swimming, walking quite fast as in you NEED to get that train right now for a reasonable distance
Riding a horse although you won't like it on day 2 after the initial event!
Enjoy!

Thigh exercises that you might enjoy:

  • Swimming
  • Rollerblading
  • Any ballet leg exercises (think barre work, lifting legs high slowly - New York Ballet workout is great)
  • Squats & lunges
  • Running (less thigh specific but will help overall tightness)
  • Pilates / yoga

Dont laugh.....

I have a horse riding machine. I'm hypermobile with a scoliosis and now I'm getting a bit older I have issues with my knees especially. I was told I needed to strengthen my thigh muscles to improve my knee function and also improve my posture.

It looks hilarious, definitely one for a locked room Blush but I've found it does work. My thighs are a lot more toned and my posture has improved a bit. I try and do 15 minutes a day on it.

I posted almost the exact same question in the exercise topic the other day and had some really helpful replies. Have a look here

This may sound daft but I find hoovering in stilettos pulls all my leg muscles and tummy muscles and I get toned really easy from it.

I had a good little booklet years and years ago called thinnner thighs in 30 days. Not sure about the thirty days but it did work. You might get it on ebay or somewhere.

Swimming? Could you pop to the pool before everyone else gets up? I get in the pool at 6am every weekday - you soon get in the routine, it sounds hideous initially!

Ah it's good to know the Shred works as I've actually just bought it and was going to start level one today!

Thanks for the replies all!
