AIBU?

I know I probably am...no easter egg :(

I can't help but be royally p*ssed off that DH didn't get me an Easter Egg this year, when he gets me one every year.

I've been on a diet since Jan 1st and have lost nearly 2 stone. I've been saying to all and sunder that I've cut down on chocolate (cut out completely for lent) and that I was going to have a day off on Easter Sunday to celebrate my loss so far with a nice chocolate egg.

I was really really looking forward to one! It was like my incentive to keep exercising and eating healthy - having a day off the diet today.

I've been saying all this to DH for months.

I'll know you'll probably all say I could have bought my own egg, and I know that, but DH gets me one every year so I didn't think I'd need to.

DH heard me saying lots of times that I couldn't wait for my egg and that I wanted him to get me a cadbury's one and he'd say okay I will.

But he didn't and he says there's none left in the shops (he only went to look last night when I asked he'd gotten one yet). He says I'm an adult and I can just do without.

AIBU? I can't help but feel totally gutted. Like all my hard work was for nothing. I'll probably have to sneak some of DD's when she's not looking.

update: DH came home with a bunch of flowers and a bar of dairy milk saying he's proud of my weight loss and sorry he forgot this year. I - - feel like - - am a cow

Remus - I'm not upset as such, just a little sad for DC as that set of GP's have never ever done anything by way of a small treat for my DC, not a 50p for their piggy bank, not taken them to the park for a play, absolutely nothing in nearly 9 years.

And, anyway, I don't think it would be THAT "odd" as you say for GP's to buy their GC's a small easter egg!!! Its just a symptom of a wider issue in our case I suppose.... Even my grumpy old battleaxe of a nan stuffed my pocket with a pound note when we had been to visit a couple of times a year!

It's not the same having to buy your own egg, it'd have been nice if you DH did buy you one but he didn't...just something you have to deal with. I have no DH and therefore no easter egg but it's not the end of the world. Better to have lost two stone and have no easter egg than not.

Easter is not just about chocolate anyway :)

Nobody has ever bought easter eggs for our children bar us, btw. It seems v odd for people to be upset at grandparents turning up without eggs.

MN is v weird lately.

YABU and childish. And there were hardly any left in the shops this weekend: we didn't manage to buy any. I don;t see any reason at all why a grown adult would 'need' an Easter egg tbh. Lindt seasalt is MUCH nicer anyway.

YANBU! I went out a week ago and bought Easter eggs for everyone. I then told DH I had bought him an egg, and if he didn't buy me one I'd just eat his, to avoid exactly the situation you are in now. I haven't even been depriving myself over lent, I just love Easter eggs!

I tried and failed to get dh an egg yesterday - typically me and the two dc's received fabulous ones from him

I tried to fob him off with the advent calendar I bought him which he didn't eat- but he was having none of it

Seriously if that is the worst thing that ever happens to him, he'll be doing fine.

zigzig - they ain't tight, Dad turned up with a case of champagne for the event! Just thoughtless, completely and utterly thoughtless. I had even forewarned them that DS's school report was simply OUTSTANDING but they could not have been less interested.

OP - well done, though, on the weight loss, sorry I should have acknowledged that at least!

Aww OP I don't think you're being that unreasonable. You're upset that your DH didn't bother to do something for you that he's always done in the past rather than some thin substandard chocolate (I assume), which I can understand. Get him to do something low cal and nice for you. And well done on the weight loss.

Aww for your DCs Anon, especially when you can get an egg for as little as a quid.

OP - I'm not sure what you are fretting about.

My DC's Grandparents came to visit yesterday, stayed for dinner and overnight and they came WITHOUT easter eggs for their grandchildren!!!! Now, my parents are very self-orientated, not that interested in anyone else, but even so, you'd expect them to bring something little for a 7yo and an 8yo, hey, on Easter weekend?! DH and I weren't entirely surprised, but even so, I was a little sad for my children that their GP's couldn't even stretch to being a little thoughtful about that (and money is no issue before anyone says it - they just bought a new £50k car....)

So, keep things in perspective. I didn't feel the need to start a thread about that, so not sure why you do!
