To think that people who are bad buggy drivers...

....should be forced to stand still while someone rams a buggy over their feet or just generally in their direction.

Before I get shouted at, may I point out that the majority of buggy owning people are considerate but I've had several buggy related incidents lately. Some of the pram-style ones are very heavy. I got my foot arthritic foot run over today. I wear sturdy boots too but it still bloody hurt!

Ah but some buggies really do handle terribly.

Our poor handlers included a graco tandem pushchair, a £12.50 hauk 'bargain' in asda and also the maclaren buggy my parents kept from the late 70s which we occasionally use. All are ankle shearers.

Our other buggy is an absolute dream to use but it cost a hell of a lot more! I still manage to knock DD1 over with it at least twice a week though .

I very much doubt though, that any amount of instruction would have stopped the mother who rammed DD today. She barreled into her at speed whilst looking in a different direction...she was then shocked when DD landed on her child! Her defence was 'how am I supposed to look where I'm going and look at clothes at the same time?'

I had to wonder if she was also one of those wonderful drivers who think indicators are optional/there for decoration only, they've been out in force today [buangry]

Craahdoll - I am probably one of those people you are complaining about.

However - I have arthritis all over, and Ian using a Baby jogger 3 wheeler as it's the only pram my hyperactive, probably ASD toddler can't escape from.

I can't steer the effing thing.

I've been pushing prams & wheelchairs for 15 years now, but a 3-wheeler is beyond me!

If I could find a cheap pram, with a high seat (DS3 is long), for £40 or less, that he couldn't escape from the straps of (which counts out all strollers and most other 'pram' type things too) to run in the road quicker than I can catch him, I wouldn't be!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that everyone has a reason for rushing / being inconsiderate / running your foot over - but they may have an invisible, GENUINE reason.

Not all of them can statistically just be arseholes for no reason!

merry I am dyspraxic too and I'm lethal with a buggy, haven't attempted to learn to drive yet.

I have DS2 in a wheelchair and DS3 in a buggy so it's mostly my 6 year old DS1 pushing the buggy. I didn't think anyone could be a worse buggy driver than me but I've been proved wrong!

honeytea I had the same problem with my pregnant belly too. In my mind I was still slim and got stuck a couple of times.

I confess to being a very bad buggy driver and I am also very clumsy and I am blind as a bat.

Clutching I have a very high profile set of wheels for my smallest and the number of times I have sent my middle child flying is beyond the ability of my poor brain to calculate. He seems to not believe that if he stops dead in front of me I just cannot see him at all. He gets shunted at least once an outing. I even managed to divest him of a shoe earlier this week >_

11 years ago I used to get around with a pushchair just fine. I had loads of different ones. No problems.

In November I had my second baby. Well fuck me, the world has changed when going out with a pushchair. Places suddenly seem a hell of a lot smaller. Going out to a shop in December was fucking horrific. I just could not get around them. I would constantly get stuck everywhere. There were whole sections of shops I couldn't access.

It's not got much better since either to be honest.

I have a very light, very easy to move pushchair. And I'm pretty sure I didn't lose the ability to push one. But it seems much harder this time.

I've not got any toes yet. But I have got in people's way. Mostly as I'm jammed somewhere by the back wheels.

I accidentally bumped very fast into a man once and knocked him to the ground. Mortifying Thankfully he was a young, healthy one so uninjured but I still felt awful about it. Have been extra careful since!

I am dyspraxic and cannot help being clumsy. I try to be aware of people around me and try my best to not bump into them, but I cannot help having poor co-ordination.

Honeys comment reminded me of me. Three bumps in, I still regularly found myself wedged by the belly because I had forgot to factor in the extra room needed. Spacial awareness got so bad I would try for gaps not even my 10 year old self would fit in.

With pushchairs I can't stand it when you say excuse me, blocker of the aisle moves 0.0005mm and expects that to be enough. No I need actual space not a half-hearted token gesture.

I have run over toes of my own children try not to, but it happens.

Worse are the trolleys with the car seats on top. I have no hope in hell of knowing what any of the trolley is up to and end up bashing a selection of people/stands/ends of aisle every shopping trip. Thankfully I don't need them anymore.

Silver That's horrible. I mind a lot less if people apologise but the bad buggy drivers I've come across have not. Genuine mistakes happen. However, I've seen some buggy owners who think they are the next Lewis Hamilton. [bugrin]

I've never forgotton the sour face a woman in the Post Office queue gave me when I scraped her ankle with the wheels of my pram. They just turned outwards at the wrong moment.

It was the first time I had taken my baby DS out into town and I felt awful. I apologised profusely but she didn't say anything, just scowled at me.

It did teach me to steer wide around people!

Can I run one into my mother who whenever she pushes my DS's push chair uses the phrase 'oops sorry learner driver' on every one of the billion times she hits someone (she had 4 children, I have 2 she has pushed a LOT of prams/buggys/pushchairs, how much bloody practice does she need )

I'm a terrible buggy driver always getting the wheels stuck I also tipped my lat grandmother out of her wheel chair whilst going down a curb! I always let my mum or DH push the buggy whenever possible!! :)

My husband was crap at pushchairs. He once didn't put the brake on properly, and it rolled into a reservoir. Was very lucky that son was out of it at the time, feeding ducks. Saw pushchair rolling past.....we managed to fish it out though. And continued to use it.

Then there was the time he left another pushchair on the pavement and drove off. Never did get it back. I was supposed to be grateful that he'd remembered to pack the baby.

I'm not good at wheelchair pushing, according to my grandma, I go too fast.

I had an incident a few years ago with dd2. When I was stopped, at the side of a pedestrianised area, not In the way of anything, with the break on, and a mature woman walked into the buggy and went flying. For some reason she thought fit to give me a torrent of abuse.
