To have pancakes for dinner?

We usually have a cold lunch and hot dinner. DCs are 2&3. I'm pregnant and craving pancakes and its pancake day.

If I do a hot lunch and pancakes for dinner is it ok? It's a one-off but I feel like it may be crappy parenting!

Dh and I normally have a 3 course pancake meal on pancake day, which I lovingly refer to as our panquet! However, this year, a teething ds has meant we haven't had time this year

We have had cream, bananas, strawberry, maple syrup, Nutella, sugar and lemon. ( it was for evening meal)

The kids and me are stuffed.

Tomorrow it will be back to normal, and for once every thing has been eaten

It's Pancake Day. Eating pancakes on Pancake Day is a must. We're having pancakes for dinner too. Savoury ones with cheese, and maybe sweet ones for dessert if we're still hungry

Choc covered strawberries
Bananas
Blueberrys
Lemon and sugar
Single cream

I've done about 20 and they are all ready to go in the oven for warming through when the children come home from school

This is their dinner and took me 45 mins to cook them , I'm not cooking anything else

YANBU - we have savoury ones to start with - I dump a load of chopped veg, beans, cheese and ham on the table and let them at it.

Then syrup, lemon, sugar, nutella, bananas, raspberries, strawberries, ice cream, chopped nuts for sweet pancakes.

Definitely not unreasonable I tried and failed to make pancakes over the weekend (and ended up with chocolatey goodness!) but I succeeded today. If there was any batter left, they'd be having them for dinner too!

I just mix eggs, milk and flour and use a ladle at a time to make a large pancake

I have had pancackes for lunch....and will be having them for dinner too. I cant even pretend to have healthed them up a bit either - dripping in lemon and sugar everytime, yum!

Because I have never, ever successfully cooked a pancake. I have 30 years of intermittent trying under my belt and I just can't do it. So I buy some packet ones and have a lovely, stress-free tea instead.

I had planned on having pesto with spinach mixed in and pasta for dinner, can I do the spinach and pesto mixture with savoury pancakes instead?

Also is savoury pancake mix different to sweet pancake mix?

I plan on making pancakes and giving them a jar of nutella to fill them with. Plus banana. ( they are 18months and 3). It's a very sweet meal ( they rarely have anything unhealthy), but they are going to love it! I just need pictures of the mess created for later years and I think it's great memories to create once a year.

(they did have butternut squash and mushroom risotto for lunch)

We always have pancakes for dinner on shrove Tuesday. I'll sometimes add a sandwich beforehand but usually it's just pancakes with assorted toppings.

Dancergirl DH is pancake maker in our house and he has a pan of simmering water on the hob with a plate on top where he puts the pancakes and covers them a large saucepan lid. When they are all made he brings them to the table. All stay hot, only the bottom one goes a bit rubbery but not inedible.

We have sweet pancakes for our tea and only have sandwiches for lunch. Not going to kill us not to have a proper meal for once.

dancer I transfer each pancake to a warm plate in the oven and take them to the table all at once. That way you get your fair share!

We are having savoury pancakes followed by sweet pancakes for dinner tea. Afterwards, we may have to lay on the floor with our trouser buttons undone until we feel able to move.

The only problem with making pancakes I find, is that I do all the work and barely get to eat any!

How do you all manage it? Once the pan is hot, it's a non-stop operation - I put them on a plate once each one is done, dd1 takes it to the table where we have fillings/toppings put out, meanwhile I'm still making them, she brings the plate back to be replenished....by the time I've finished all the batter they're nearly all gone!

We normally have pancakes for dinner, but as my parents are staying, I'm not sure if I can be bothered making enough for 6 people for a main meal! So we'll be having a normal dinner, then a couple of pancakes each for pudding .
