Toddler DS decided sleep was for wimps last night and was up and bouncy between 11 and 3 last night. Thank god it's not a day I go to work! However I'm so tired and the best way to make me feel better this morning was to have a big cup of coffee and some Jaffa cakes. IANBU am I?

I couldnt just eat 3 jaffa cakes, it's the whole box or nothing. If you smooshed them up and lumped them together they would only amount to one cake slice really so it's allowed.

Ruby...
your syllogism doesn't work. What if Jaffa cakes were a sort of bread? Then your premises would be true but your conclusion false.
You could add a premise saying that cakes AND ONLY CAKES go hard when they get stale. That would make the argument valid, but it wouldn't be true. I think it would be better to add a premise saying that Jaffa cakes are EITHER cakes or biscuits.

sue52 I don't need a fork to eat any kind of cake!

You don't need a cake fork to eat a Jaffa Cake so it must be a fusion.

I never understood why their was a question in the first place..."Is a Jaffa Cake a cake or a biscuit?" It's in the sodding name! And its made of sponge, and its not hard, its a bloody cake!

Well I've just eaten iced carrot cake for breakfast. Very nice too!

Did they eat it or was it left to go stale?

They also baked a giant Jaffa cake to present to the people making the decision.

I think that was a brilliant way of deciding: no doubt there were lots of long, technical arguments.
Whoever came up with the cake hard/ biscuit soft thing was a genius!

And I think YABU to not give a shit.

They'd be 20% more expensive if they were biscuits.

Surely that's worth caring about!

As far as I'm aware the vat on Jaffa cakes was sorted quite a few years ago. I heard about it when I was training 12 years ago.

They are officially a cake.

Cakes go hard when they get stale.
Biscuits go soft when they get stale.
Jaffa cakes go hard ∴ they are a cake.

Gosh, a syllogism before breakfast Grin

But YABVU if the jaffa cakes are ever allowed to be in a state to test this theory.

I think the cake/biscuit definition is influenced by what happens when they go stale. Cakes go hard and biscuits go soft so Jaffa cakes are cakes.

I am a sucker for the orangey bit though...

Report
ScarletLady02 · 24/09/2012 08:06

Less sponge...more orangey bit. Plus you get the equivalent of two packs for 85p Wink

They really are better...trust me...

Really? Superior? I fail to see what could be improved upon...

Have two more so that you´ve had your 5 a dayGrin

And of course when you need energy food it doesn´t matter if it´s cake, biscuit, chocolate or all three!

Aren´t they a cake because of the cakey spongy bit?

Aren´t biscuits crunchy??
