AIBU?

To wonder what NDN actually said? Bit daft but it's bothering me.

OK, our 3 flats share one outside staircase. NDN swept the snow of the stairs on Sunday morning. Sunday evening I noticed the stairs had been covered in table salt. Oh well. I do have strong anti- views on using table salt for this purpose but didn't think much of it.

Today NDN pulled me up in the street and said "Did you cover the outside stairs in that slippery stuff?" "No. It must have been the other neighbour." I said. She turned to her DH saying "Oh dear we must apologise to [other neighbour]. It was so slippery, we spent ages trying to get rid of it!" "Oh," I said "You thought it was me, well I never etc" while PMSL to show good humour.

But this raises all sorts of questions...

Namely, did they stand outside the third neighbour's flat slagging me off personally BUT also casting aspersions about anyone who'd use table salt for this purpose being a, perhaps, Barking Mad Cunt or somesuch?

If not what other reason could there be to apologise to 3rd neighbour? Or for that matter to say to me, sorry we blamed you in public?!

Sorry I don't do living in enclosed communities very well!

I will take great delight in telling her I had to remove the pile of it from where she left it in the corner at the bottom of the stairs because it was...oh, damaging the mortar? Causing concrete cancer?

I'll think of something disturbing I'm sure Grin

Table salt won't make it more slippy , so your neighbour is wrong

hmm no i can't imagine why they would need to apologise to the next door neighbour
that makes no sense

"sorrry for telling you that mandy2003 did that, when we now know it was you"

makes no sense!

Table salt, I've always thought, will wash off when rained on and be toxic to plants. Also, as neighbour pointed out, it's small granular consistency makes a slippery surface. Something with large granules say cat litter or grit is suitable for stairs.

The point I'm trying to get an opinion on is why do they want to apologise to someone they've not accused of anything? And if they slagged me off why not apologise to me?

Like I said, I can't do this small community stuff Sad and awarding self a Biscuit

But still puzzled.

Who cares if they moaned about you or not. You've done nothing wrong, they feel like a pillock. Eat some chocolate and move on Grin
