to put DCs in matching coats?

Boring question, but I need the answer before shelling out on outerwear for the nippers.

My mother used to put my sister and I in matching clothes. Drove us nuts, particularly DSis who would wear the same dress for 4 years after having received my hand me downs when hers were outgrown poor thing.

Am I projecting? The only winter coat I like for DCs is available now in only one colour... childhood flashbacks are holding me back. DCs are close in age and under 2 so can't complain either way. So what I mean is:

Does it look naff to dress your children in matching outfits?

Apologies again for being terminally dull, will post an AIBU about porn/curious sexual practices another day

YADNBU I love to dress my two boys the same (4 & 2 ) Its so cute! If they did the same things in pink, my DD would be in the same too. They love dressing the same, its easier to spot them in a crowd (especially in orange bobble hats or something!). I cant understand why more people dont do this, especially with things like coats.

It's completely fine while they are tiny.

If they don't like it when they are older, you can respect their wishes and not do it.

My sister and I used to like pretending to be twins sometimes (22 months between us and depending on who had recently had a growth spurt we were sometimes close in height too!)

Mine have matching coats. They asked for them. They're 8 and 4. This year they have asked for the same one their 7 year old cousin has.

Of course YANBU - they are less than two and it's only an overcoat. Some people on this thread need to get a grip.

I hate seeing kids dressed the same - I'm sure you can find two different coats for 2 under 2!

it can be an advantage, having DC in the same coat it is easier to spot them in the park ect.

YANBU. It's a coat and your DCs are little. I have 3 DD's and the 2 oldest , then the 2 youngest used to have matching outfits sometimes.

Probably biased but I like dressing my kids the same. My 2 yr old twins are always usually matching, and my ds's aged 5 and 7 usually have the similar colours or the similar outfits in different colours.

YANBU.

Its fine. Mine had matching unisex coats that were passed down the line .Especially when they are little it's easy to spot 3 the same in the bus queue or in the park!

The smaller they are the less they will give a stuff.

As the younger sibling I used to like having matching outfits with my older sister - I don't think she did though! But I really don't think they will care at this age. Over the years I have bought DD a lot of gender neutral things in the mindset that they can be reused by their sibling.

god. my 2 nearly always have the same coat - sometimes in the same colour, sometimes diferent colours.

atm, they have different waterproofs - partly because dd2 has just got a school coat (they are at different schools). they ahve the same winter coat, though - in the same colour/pattern.

I bought one for dd1, and dd2 wanted the same. fine, who cares?

she will get a different coat in between wearing hers and wearing dd1's as a hand me down (only 2 years between them, but dd1 is in age 8 clothing, and dd2 is in age 3!), so I am at least partly resigned to her turning her nose up at it, tbh (because it may not be her favourite colour anymore, or whatever)
