Period due tomorrow - OMG! Have very bad PMS the last few days - psycho personality change, full of rage/anger, back pain today, feels like sciatica (am now walking like John Wayne:)

Have 3 year old DD and twin DSs, 14 months.

PMS getting worse.

Is it after having children? My family definitely done, am wondering if I got the coil would make a difference to PMS?

Sorry, post lacking in wit/excitement. Far too PMSee to sound interesting

Off to have take-away, wine and a warm bath shortly

I'm SO, SO glad it's not just me that goes absolutely mental every month, hurling vile language around (I do find swearing slightly cathartic at these times) It's actually comforting to know I'm not the only person who feels she's losing her mind and needs sectioning.

I feel so sorry for my kids. I've even had a talk with them about why it happens, and tried to give them a "code word" not to push me anymore when it's "DON'T FUCK WITH MUMMY WEEK"

The first couple of times they giggled their heads off and said "Uh-oh! It MST week"

Which actually made me laugh and calm down.

For a nano second Blush

I startd to get menstrual migraines after I had dd2, so I agree OP- my PMS has definitely gotten worse.

I started to feel nauseous before my first period after dc2. Am due on my 2nd period and feeling nauseous again. Never had that before.

I get very depressed the week before I'm due, never used to affect me prior to having DD. In fact, I used to have a little back ache but that was it. I exercise to ease the depression but it creeps in and I feel awful for about a week to 2 week depending.

Tis shit.

My periods got much heavier after having DC1 and worse PMS too, I was exhausted around each period and very ratty. Lots of blood tests later I was put on iron tablets for anaemia which did help quite a lot.

Had DC2 recently so no periods recently but I'm expecting them to get worse again and plan to try various pills to find one that helps. I think it might be partly genetic as I remember my mum having a D&C in her 40s to try to alleviate things (IIRC - no medical expert).

FWIW, my friend (in her 40s, older than me) has had all kinds of PMS problems and after a barrage of tests is now about to have surgery for something or other to fix it, she is not peri-menopausal yet.

I suffer all of the above but I did before children although having children later in life might prove the age theory right.
I have tried everything mentioned above and now I am going for extreme exercise to see if that helps.
You'd think that someone would have a remedy by now though wouldn't you it's so god damn debilitating.

Since my periods came back after DS my whole cycle has changed so much. Ovulation comes with bad backache, sore hips, a constant pain in the uterine area and a bad temper, backahe remains right up until my period and then more bad temper, eating everything in sight and painful cramps.

My life is one long IABU in the latter half of my cycle! I am so easily irritated and have no patience.

I think I'll give the Agnus Castus a go too. Thanks for that turtle. I found the Evening Primrose Oil or Starflower oil worked for about a month and then the PMS came storming back.

Right off to buy some Agnus castus. Thanks turtle :)

I am glad to hear it's not just me! I am 34 with an 8 and 6 year old and my pmt is getting worse with age. I am also vile and hate myself for it, my head feels disengaged from my body and I just feel very weird. I am not sure what can be done about it but I absolutely dread that time of month :(

Mine pms got so bad after DC2 that I am currently seeing a Gyne with the aim of having my ovaries removed. (and yes it was that bad, if they hadn't given me injections blocking the hormones I really don't know what I would have done). It got worse and worse so by the time DS2 was 1, I wasn't coping at all for 2 weeks of every month!

Agnus Castus. Seriously. Changed my life. PMS was so bad I thought I was going mad...all ok now

Better not be menopause in my case - I'm 30 and not ready for that yet... hot flushes sound hell! I already have a faulty thermostat as it is...

In fact the hot flushes have become a bit of a joke amongst myself and my friends. I'm beginning to find it really difficult to judge if the DCs are appropriately dressed because I'm always so hot!

I'd forgotten about the food too!

The need to eat crap stodgy food constantly. Last month I made a macaroni cheese for supper. Ate the lot too myself and then had to make another.

I also don't have the little voice that suggests it might be that time of the month.

I also think it's menopause related. I was on the train the other evening surrounding by people wearing jumpers and coats wearing just a thin cotton top and fanning myself - I was literally burning up and sweating in a most unladylike fashion. I'm only 36 though.

I hate to say this Mumbling, but I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil (1000mg), and Vitamin B6 daily and I don't think it has made a scrap of difference. PMS was really awful before I had children, and eased for about a year after DD was born but then came back really badly after DS was born. At least I don't get the excruciatingly bad period pains that would leave me doubled up in agonising pain for 2 days, barely able to get out of bed, anymore.

Everyone says diet and exercise is the key. The diet bit is tricky when all you want to do is eat cake though! I think you're meant to avoid sugar, salt, caffeine and fatty foods (so basically, all the good stuff) :(

Mine became awful when they had always been easy. YANBU I have heavy periods and cramps..backpain and am a nitcase for about a week every month.

I also boat up. I am looking into taking oi of evening primrose.

I've just had the one period since dd2 but felt horrific before that, almost went to the Drs as I felt like I was coming on for about 2 months. Apparently that's normal though. Think I'm due on again now and I feel very aware of it, just generally achy in my tummy area.

Report
LittleJennyRobyn · 23/09/2011 13:40

Mine was definitly worse, after i had last baby 8 years ago.
But in the last 9 months or so it's been fucking awful
Also suffer terrible mood swings, god awful headaches, hot flushes, feel sick, sore swollen boobs, eat like a fecking pig and get loads of water retention.
(i can hardly move in my jeans today they feel so tight!!!)

i am 36 (37 in january) so am thinking peri-menopause for me as periods are all over the place.
