  1. Complaints abou Christmas shopping in August - it's FINE to do this. Yes I know it's August. I have a number of children and a full time job - I start early, deal with it!

  2. E-bay sniping thing - NO. If you want to win an item watch it and make your best bet, don't use the CHEAT sniper thing to win by 10p with two seconds to go!

  3. Petrol prices - WTF? that's all

  4. Outing mumsnetters to their friends. Yes I'm talking to you - years ago we worked out that we had a mutual friend. When you saw them last month you talked to them about mumnset - fair enough, they have a young dc now too. What is not fair is that you told them MY name not yours. So now I am namechanging right left and centre - thanks a lot. WHY did you do that?

  5. Bras - why so expensive?

  6. Woodburners - they smell and get too hot. Other than that they're fine.

  7. People who update facebook with every tiny litte detail of their life or worse their child's life. Rolling press release of numpty's life is not a riveting read.

  8. Sand on beaches - why does it look so nice and then feel so horrid?

  9. People who don't indicate to change lane on motorways. Why not?

  10. Coffee. It's everywhere and it's horrible. How can people even sniff it let alone drink it?

    Ok that feels better........

oh and 11) People who say 'Is that all you've got to worry about'?' No it isn't. The above list is not exhaustive nor life and death. I hope that is some comfort to you.

Can't stand people even mentioning Christmas before November.
Ebay doesn't bother me-I put in my top bet, if someone outbids me, by any means, that is Ok
Agree on petrol prices.
I don't tell anyone that I am on MN so can't be outed-would deny it anyway.
I buy bras in the sales.
Not got much opinion on wood burners
Get rid of friends on FB, or hide their posts.
Love sand
Most driving on motor ways annoys me, especially staying out in the middle lane.
Love coffee , especially the smell.

Beaches and boats - amen! go us the organised mummies with families who get nice pressies! yeay!

me too our planet neptune!

I know I will be busy from september onwards, I do alot of volunteering that runs term time, and alot of its christmas orientated, so it makes sense to get the shopping/browsing done while I do have time, I have a list that has the definate items we want to get for the children as soon as their birthdays are over (may, july & Aug) as soon as I see said item on a deal/in a sale I get it, makes perfect financial and time saving sense!

As I said before if you dont like talking about christmas in August DONT read the posts till december Grin

I normally finish purchasing all presents by November [smug emoticon]. They are wrapped 2nd week of December when the tree goes up. I do this because like you, Glendaisgrumpy, I am busy but I also love buying Christmas presents which I know the recipient will like. Thus it is not unheard of for me to buy a present in July (because I saw it and just thought of [insert appropriate recipient name here]).

Amen on your other point OP. Amen.

Another bugbear of my mine is (price) labels on items purchased that cannot be removed easily properly. Seriously, WTF? Breathe...

  1. Could not give a fig, I dont do xmas so could care less when you start spending money on it.

  2. I dont have time to watch till the end, so I stick my highest bid in at the end, what does it matter, if you wanted it you should have bid higher, if you bidded your max, i saved you over spending. Grin

  3. Agree

  4. deny everything.

  5. Because your worth it Grin

  6. No idea at all, and couldnt care less

  7. Block button

  8. I Love sand, apart from in my sandwiches.

  9. Because they are idiots

I with you particularly on the bra's, as Freudian says if you have a small back and big norks, impossible to get for £4. I would also add dresses to that when you have big norks and a small body, most dresses just dont fit.

Im not with you on the coffee front, coffee is my friend, im addicted even if my breath smell like ass.

With you on the Xmas shopping, I also start early as I have massive family, buying stocking presents here and there and things for other members of the family less likely to change their minds. What's really annoying is when people sneer at you for doing it and say 2 weeks before December, oh my God I haven't even thought about Xmas yet, how do you have the TIME? As if you've got less of a life than them when actually you're just super organised super mum whose kids will get nice things that they want rather than last minute panic buys!

Coffee - totally agree - it makes your breath smell like ass and there's no getting away from that, it's rank.

for all those wil big boobs go to debenhams and look in the sales rack, i got 3 freya bras they other week for £21, full price they would have cost me around £28 each was very very pleased. a good well made supportive bra is essential if you are have big norks, they are very hard to buy if you have a small back and big norks so you have to splash out

i will not discus christamas and do not want to discuss christmas until november at teh earliest, before then i have zero interest

i thought the whole point of bidding on ebay was to get something at the lowest price possible, maybe i have got it all wrong

i have a friend on here i do not mind if she mentions it to others and outs me, if its something that i really do not want discussed with friends in rl i shall namechange, but once you put something in here its out anyway so bit hard to claim you want things to be kept private

You do not need to indicate on a motorway when returning to a lane on your left. You should always drive in the left hand lane, unless overtaking. As on other roads, you indicate to pull out but you don't indicate to pull back in again as it is something you should automatically do.

What pisses me off mostly on motorways is drivers who sit in the middle lane whether they are overtaking or not, causing drivers who are in the left hand lane to pull out 2 lanes to overtake them (indicating both times) and pull back in 2 lanes, having done so (not indicating because it's obvious that having overtaken, you will return to the correct lane!)

As for the other stuff - I really don't want to hear about Christmas yet.
Facebook, I barely use.
Bras, if you're big, are expensive. Why does someone think you need to change them every 6 months? I keep mine for years.
Coffee definitely smells better than it tastes but I have acquired a taste for it over the years - just needs lots of milk and sugar.

  1. Fine by me

  2. Just bid your maximum - if you don't get it, it wouldn't have been a bargain.

  3. Agree.

  4. Mean.

  5. Agree.

  6. Dunno.

  7. Irritating.

  8. Hate sand. My FIL thinks I'm being precious.

  9. See below, earlier poster who thinks it's OK.

  10. YABU, I'm afraid. I'm like that about tea.

Highway Code re: overtaking on a motorway
Do not overtake unless you are sure it is safe and legal to do so. Overtake only on the right. You should

    check your mirrors
take time to judge the speeds correctly
make sure that the lane you will be joining is sufficiently clear ahead and behind
take a quick sideways glance into the blind spot area to verify the position of a vehicle that may have disappeared from your view in the mirror
remember that traffic may be coming up behind you very quickly. Check all your mirrors carefully. Look out for motorcyclists. When it is safe to do so, signal in plenty of time, then move out
ensure you do not cut in on the vehicle you have overtaken
be especially careful at night and in poor visibility when it is harder to judge speed and distance

  1. Christmas shopping in August
Lots of people do it but you don't need to talk to other people about it. Like masturbation.

  2. E-Bay sniper thing
    Meh

  3. Petrol prices
    Talk to OPEC and HMRC

  4. Outing MNers
    Nasty

  5. Bra Prices
You have to pay more if you have more to support. Unfair but true.

  6. Woodburners
Not an issue I've come across.

  7. Facebook
I loathe it and all it shows about human nature

  8. Sand
    Love it

  9. Indicating on Motorways
Some people don't bother even though there are other cars nearby. They are arseholes.

  10. Coffee smell
Coffee is fine. The stench of hot milk makes me Envy

I don't have a problem with you doing your Christmas shopping early, but it is still summer, some of us like to cling on to the fact that we can still wear flips and potter about in the garden.
I don't want to see fairy lights and Santas in the shops in August anymore that I want bags of grit and de-icer replaced by suncream and bikinis in January.

Ebay-Yes I agree.

Petrol prices-agree some people need a car to actually work and support eveyone else who doesn't.

Bras and woodburners disagree.

facebook =don't use it.

Sand-disagree sand is wonderful and thearaputic

Bad drivers-agree

Coffee-disagree. Coffee is fab.

Sniping only works if the sniper's max bid is more than the previous max bid. So their fault for not bidding enough.
And coffee is wonderful.

On the rest, YANBU. Even if I'm doing Christmas shopping on 22 December and thanking lucky stars I'm not seeing most of my family until New Year...

Gripped by the not indicating thing. I passed my test not that long ago and I was taught that you should indicate whenever somebody could benefit from seeing that indication - which certainly applies to motorways!
