Some of you may know the story about my DD.

She died aged 14, 5 years ago.

When she was dying I was sitting with her and she was reaching out and smiling.

I said to her 'what are you doing darling?'

She told me 'I am catching the butterflies mummy'

She left us soon after and ever since butterflies have been a huge part of my life. Billie was like a butterfly. Beautiful and fragile and she bought joy to anyone who knew her.

Its my birthday today it was also the Memory Day a the local children's hospice. We let off some ballons and I took a photo of Billie's.

Its on my profile. Look at the shape the clouds are making.

thanks.

I just want to cry reading your OP I really do. I work with children, many who sadly die. I know all about what to do regards to the formalities, the support to put in place for parents during and after, what the research says about telling children/siblings about death, but I do not and dont think I ever will grasp how a parent deals with losing their child. It sounds trite and patronising but you must be so strong and what you have done for charity etc since losing your little girl is amazing but I cant put it into words how humbling it is and how I wish with all my heart no parent/child(ren) should ever have to go through this.

Thank you so much for introducing me to your beautiful DD and for the photos, which have filled my heart with happiness.

I am honored to read her story.

PS: I have uploaded some photos on my profile for you, in memory of Billie. They were taken in my garden, in New Zealand, in April this year. Happy Birthday, thefirstMrsDeVere! :)

Happy Birthday, MrsDeVere. What a gorgeous story, and what a gorgeous daughter. I have read your story on here before, going back a while, when you started a thread asking posters to consider registering as bone marrow donors. I had previously thought about registering myself, but your story made me actually do it. Reading about your beautiful daughter really moved me to tears, and more importantly, to action. I am now registered as a donor (here, am in Ireland). I would probably never have done this, if it wasn't for you, and for Billie. Please keep sharing your story, you really are making a difference. Smile

Happy Birthday for yesterday :)

Beautiful, beautiful picture. I often think of Billie, I bumped into one of your threads not long after I joined. She's not much younger than me and, well, who could forget that smile?

It was also the thought of Billie that gave me the kick up the bum to start the blood donation process.

feeling so moved by this...have never seen a photo with a sky like that before, am sure it's a sign from your lovely girl. I too think of her every time I see your name because she looks so radiant and special in the photos, once you see her you don't forget her.

I have heard that butterflies are a symbol of the soul. Thank you so much for sharing that, it's one of the loveliest things I've ever heard/seen on here.

That photo is amazing - I could see two butterflies at the top, one clearer than the other. What a lovely sign to you. xxx
