I know you think you should feelhappy to have z jIf you think you will be bullied or harrassed into leaving you can sue for constructive dismissal

blessings thats not really an option as i work for the public sector. Budgets already pre agreed etc. So today i have checked my emails, and again and now i'm discreetly mumsnetting on my phone but my boss does have work for me but the person i'd be working for is off today.

I have been catching up on any changes etc and i have also asked my boss if i could possibly go and have a walk round projects i was working on last year that are in construction phase or have been completed. He would need to find an appropriate time code for this so i am awaiting a response!

If there is nothing to do - why do they or you not suggest a project group to either look for more business or viable alternative avenues. Does not have to be full time say and hour a day or one 4 hour weekly session. I know you are not sales specialists but it surprising what non ''experts' can come up with as you will look outside the box (sorry :0)

this is very true. £££ do usually spur me on! Grin

well must get to sleep as its going to be a challenge getting dcs to nursery then to work on time. Trial runs were fine but you know tomorrow morning is just going to be one thing going wrong after another! :)

I think if you know they're trying to wind you up to force you to leave, it might be easier to put up with than if they were just genetic wankers making your life a misery.

Just keep the £££s your 'earning' in redundancy in the back of your mind every time they're trying it on Smile

well, this is the way i feel zigzag. Do i ride it out and hope for a pay off eventually or that work will pick up?? I've been there for 5 years in this company so feel i should leave with something especially as the current job market is so horrendous so i wouldn't be able to walk into another job.

But the atmosphere is horrible and a few of the longer staff, who would receive quite a sizable redundacy if offered, have been treated appallingly as if an attempt to push them out.

I am dreading it but as you say they have to find me something to do! Its what they'll find me to do thats worrying!

It's nasty trying to look busy when there's fuck all to do and your boss is looking over your shoulder.

But in this case I bloody well would go in and not be put off by the sarcastic one.

It's your job and they'll have to find you something to do, or be OK with you doing nothing.

If it's a roundabout way of trying to get rid of you, they'll have to go through the official channels and cough up any cash they would owe you.

Don't let them grind you down Smile

oh FGS, new thread, aibu to want to chuck my phone out the bloody window. I don't think i am.

I had a large post written explaining the situation but it will take ages to rewrite so here are the basic.

I return to work tomorrow after maternity leave, have been in on a few occasions to keep myself up to date with gossip training etc.

Spoke with my boss last week when i was in to ask what i'd be working on, to which he replied sarcastically well if you can find some work to do let me know.

I work in construction industry and i'm aware things are dire bit our office policy is no compulsory redundancies.

I'm going back to put my dcs in childcare and earn very little once that is paid, i mean literally peanuts.

Should i be thankful to have a job or should i risk it and do the sensible thing and leave? I need to return for 3 months but after that??

My main concern is that i invested a lot into my career, long uni course, continual training etc but i can't step away for a few years as it would be very difficult to return and there aren't jobs there just now.

BUT i can't face the prospect of twiddling my thumbs and doing nothing for the foreseeable!

Grab tomorrow by its ears and give it a damn good shaking, then kick it up the arse and send it on its way.

Up to anything interesting then?
