The cover that I thought was coming from a third party supplier actually came from Amazon. No weather delays. It arrived on 29th but due on 30th.

At least where we are staying has free wifi so I shall be able to berate Amazon whilst on holiday.

There have been a few issues not just the kindle a game I ordered for my bro, the must have game.

Amazon blamed weather......on thier forums seemed a stock issue to me they wouldn't admit to.

I just wish they would have said....if they offer one day delivery and I am sent an email stating I will get it by 30/12 - then I do kinda expect it....if I had an email saying sorry, having stock problems will probably be say mid Jan till you'll get it then it wouldnt be so bladdy annoying

That's why I think it is a Kindle supply issue not a delivery issue. My Kindle is going to my mother's address so I will know the date it is delivered even though I'm away.

I thought about JL but none in stock. I don't actually want a Kindle. I only bought one because I am going on holiday this weekend, have hurt my back so can't ski and didn't want to carry a load of heavy books. I won't use the Kindle other than when I fly on holiday and this will most probably be our only flying holiday in 2011.

What is worse is the comment from Amazon on the invoice for the cover saying that the packages were sent separately for expeditious service.

I reckon it has nothing to do with a delay by royal mail but everything to do with a supply problem at Amazon that they aren't admitting to.

Hubby ordered me a Kindle for Christmas on the 6th of December and it was due to be delivered on the 11th. Still no sign of it and Amazon are just saying to give it a couple more weeks. hmm

emmyloulou - utter tangent, but when you say, it's all over the amazon site, where? Is there a forum or something? People have said this before but I've never been able to find any form of chat/discussion section. Am I just being dense? :)

I could have written this post. I ordered my kindle on the 27th (via Prime) and it was meant to arrive yesterday.

No sign of it.

I'm really cross/disappointed. If they weren't going to get it delivered they should have given me a sensible estimate of delivery .......not got my hopes up.

YOu cannot expect in the weather conditions we have had to get your items next day.

A special delivery item was sent to me on 23rd December, it still has not arrived.

A lot of things have been sent by RM, as City Link the prime carrier and that of one day delivery couldn't cope. So before people start slating RM, It was Amazon's only hope in most cases of trying to deliver as City link haven't been in many cases and not responding to customers or Amazon themsleves.

They still have pallets stuck outside warehouses full of gifts ordered around the 14th-15th on one day service!!! Mine included.

City link suspended deliveries to scotland, still kept taking parcels on a one day basis and not moving them from the collection depot. Amazon had to start sending things by RM, as CL switched their phones off, stopped answering emails and stopped speaking to Amazon on "their" line.

Sure parcels by RM have been late, at least they show up give or take a few days. My parcels are stuck in a depot no where near Scotland and I'm in the south. City Link have basically been hoarding parcels and not delivering. It's all over the Amazon site.

MollieO - same with DP.
He ordered with Prime 1-day on the 26th and it was despatched on the 27th for a delivery on the 30th, but he's still waiting! No tracking number either.
He had better service from standard delivery only days beforehand.

It probably won't help MollieO but did you know John Lewis also sell Kindles so if there is one nearby you could nip there and buy one and then return the one to Amazon when it arrives?

Duffy same here. Kindle ordered on 26/12 with Amazon Prime. Delivery 30/12. Stil waiting. The cover I ordered at the same time with the same delivery date and method arrived yesterday on time. Difference being a third party supplier through Amazon. I don't think it is royal mail's fault in this instance I think the blame lies fairly and squarely with Amazon.

I don't understand why the send normal books via courier and a Kindle through the post. I go on holiday this weekend and ordered it specifically for that. Thoroughly fed up with Amazon and I shall be making a complaint.

honestly - I think you'll find it's the good old royal mail at fault. I ordered quite a few amazon things in the lead up to Christmas - normally they are excellent - for some reason everything went by RM, was dispatched with normal efficiency by Amazon and then RM took 3-4 days to deliver.
RM tried to deliver one special delivery item (gifts for the family) on 23rd - when we went with the card to the sorting office they said it would not be back til 30th at earliest.... Royal Mail is hopeless.
