Got a phone call while on holiday a few weeks ago from the letting agent saying the gas safety check was due - could the bloke come and do it that week,

No - I wasn't there.

So - arranged for him to come this last Wednesday (I got back at 7pm on the Tuesday night). Stayed in all day with an empty fridge and boys driving me up the wall only to get a phone call at 6pm saying "sorry won't be until Friday afternoon"

Friday afternoon rolled by yesterday - still hadn't turned up.

He's just turned up now. Obviously I've let him in to do it - but am quite p*ssed off that it wasn't done when they said it would be done.

I'm properly child free for the first time in weeks (boys went off to their dads about 45 minutes ago), and was just settling down chilling and now my peace has been shattered

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

could you inform people on mumsnet it is unacceptable conduct on Sanctuary’s behalf. Appointments must be made, and appointments must be kept and if they can’t keep them they should give the tenant reasonable notice. If contractors turn up unexpected turn them away, I do as its inconvenient, and Sanctuary know this too. If they do fail, you are entitled to some compensation but you will have to make a formal complaint. Good luck and don’t give up.

The posts coming up were NOT written by me, I have been given permission to cross post by another tenant.

yes the problems are with Liberty Gas. Many people where we live have also had problems with them, from a falsified Gas Safety Certificate to a tenant receiving a threatening letter from Sanctuary stating she was in breach of her tenancy agreement because she had missed two appointments for a gas safety inspection. This lady contacted Sanctuary to protest and said someone had been home at all times, Sanctuary insisted the appointments had been missed until the tenant asked why liberty hadn’t left calling cards. The only thing that is consistent with Sanctuary is the failures and subsequent cover ups. And it will only get worse

You posted that earlier so i will reiterate what i said earlier. The fact that it has to be done is the VERY reason why they should have turned up today.

I think its disgusting that the gas safety engineer did not turn up when he said he would and you were given no notification. It may well be that your landlord had no notification either.

However the gas safety check is law and has to be done. If your landlord did not carry out the safety check you and your children could all die in their beds.

An engineer from Liberty phoned at 6.50pm from Enfield. (im in Essex) would have taken him over an hour to get here and then hes got to do the check.
The boiler is next the cooker so i would have had to wait ages before i could start cooking tea Already skipped lunch while waiting all day for same reason. Not this enginneers fault He was polite and apologetic.
Said it would mean him driving for over an hour to do a ten minute job. So i thanked him and told him to leave it for now I sent Sanctuary a text and i or they (sanctuary will ring me tomorrow or i will ring them I no longer wish to correspond with Liberty Gas in any way shape or form.
DH is worried though because the other enginneer from Carillion used to be here for 45 mins doing a check. Not ten minutes.
I also missed my excsersise routine today. IM NOT missing or cancelling anything else.

Agree Which is why its important that he turns up.

And my neighbours need forewarning that when they take a day off of their minimum wage jobs to wait for these fuckers to get their finger out that they may not turn up.

Having a gas safety check is a legal requirement.

Next time landlord/agent is faffing you about tell him when YOU will be in, and tough luck if he does not turn up at that time.

dark DO get a CO2 monitor. There are free ones offered from time to time as part of awareness campaigns. Dont trust them to look after you properly.

The lady on the Gas Compliance desk at Sanctuary is trying really hard to get this resolved and has passed it on to the evening/night engineer.
Shes the only one who has been helpful

It's very annoying when people treat you as if your time has no value. I've been lucky in the people who have needed to come into my home to check stuff- I've always kown pretty much who was in charge of them. I suspect this is another cost-cutting outsourcing thing Sad.

beast thats awful. Sad It was the way i was spoken to on the phone by the caller from Liberty No wonder they make it so they dont receieve incoming calls.
The left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing so i have ZERO CONFIDENCE.
