Allergies and intolerances

Mucus, eczma and loose poo - Dairy intolerance?

Hi, I read an article over the weekend about dairy intolerance and am wondering if that is what my DS (20mnths) has been suffering from all along. For as long as I can remember he's been chesty and prone to mucus-y nose and a cough and for the past 2/3 months has had constant cough and very blocked nose. He also has slight eczma and has always had loose poo.

I'm wondering if he could be allergic to cows milk as he does drink quite alot.

Would it be worth trying something else - if so what is better to try goats milk or soya?

Thanks for that, I didn't realise soya could be an allergen. I think I'll try him from today. Does it what I've described sound like dairy intolerance? If it is that, any idea how long it might take to see an improvement if I switch to goats milk?

I'd try goats' milk first as its similar in fat content to cows' milk (important for tinies), is quite widely avaialable and you can get goat yoghurts and cheeese too. It's also naturally calcium-rich rtaher than having to be fortified like soya / rice milk etc.

If that doesn't work you could consider real non-dairy, but be aware that soya is quite a common allergen too...
