Adoption

Long ago and oh so far away...

... DS became my son in every way that mattered, in my eyes, in his eyes and according to the laws of Kazakhstan.

Two and a half long and bureaucratic years later the UK courts finally recognised that Ds was indeed my lovely boy. He is now officially a Gherkin.

For anyone who doesn't know the story this is the photographic journey (quicker than reading the blog!) www.onetruemedia.com/shared?p=6e3cbecfaa2fc0543284d3&skin_id=601&utm_source=otm&utm_medium=text_url

Check out my profile for todays photos - I will remove them after a short time as the judge probably isn't expecting to appear on the internet!

When the judge pronounced that she was granting the adoption order, I whispered to DS "what do you say to the Judge?" and he shouted really loudly...

"THANK YOU!"

Afterwards his legal guardian came up to me and said the judge was very moved and said in all her years as a judge she'd never been thanked by a child.

What a boy... what must I have done in a previous to get this lucky? I have decided I must have been Florence Nightinggale!

Happy day

Can't believe it's taken so long! Congratulations.

I always think of that song from the Sound of Music "Something Good".

Oh Kew - I can't believe it has been 3 years. I remember following your blog while you were there. Daniel is gorgeous (not that you need anyone to tell you that!) and is a credit to you.

Many many congratulations on having signed and sealed that last legal bit.

It is hard to think about how D had to keep his happiness in check at such a young age until he felt it was safe to feel joy. Your ds and you look radiant together.

no blueshoes you weren't imagining things. I didn;t notice until I put the montage together but it is true. Somehow the permanency of it seemed to sink in and he just blossomed.

Kew, your movie has me in tears. D is such a gorgeous happy boy. Both of you deserve each other.

I wonder if I imagine it but it seemed to me that the instant you were in the UK, D seemed much more relaxed and beaming. Whereas in previous photos he seemed almost guarded.

kew congratulations I am so glad that all of the officialdom has now been completed - at last. I remember so well when you were exiled in Kazak for 3 months, unable to return, in the snow, up a tower block, with baby Daniel, with no pushchair or car or M&S. You are a great Mum and Daniel is as lucky to have you as you are to have him. Give him a huge hug from me xxxxxxxxx

Your boy's a corker, Kewcumber. I'm so happy for you both. And your generosity and concern for the birth mother is lovely to read.

Kewcumber, you truly are amazing and congratulations for it all being finally official! I loved your photo's and have been quietly sobbing at the last ones and how hard it must have been for you to leave them all behind. I hope that in the time since you have been home other Angel parents have also found them. Much love to your very good looking young chap, I hope you are able to print your threads for him to read in the future so he can truly know how far you have gone for him and how very much you love him.

Nananina - DS was born in KAzakhstan in a town right in the north east where Russia CHina MOngolia and Kazkahstan meet. We aren't sure what his ethinicity is 100% but best guess is that his mother was Kazakh and father probably part Kazakh part Russian.

If you're interested take at look at my blog of the trip which has some information about where he came from journeytokazhere

Don;t bother to read the whole thing - I was there 3 months so its endless! But the Kazakhstan stuff is on some of the early pages.

and todays trauma was that he was out in the garden of my sisters house (with her father in law I hasten to add) and ran after his ball onto the swimming pool cover which wasn't properly secured and went straight through .

Lordy I don't think I've run so fast for years! Only a bit shocked from the cold water...

He's only been mine legally for one day and I nearly broke him!

I don't like you any more Kew . I read your message about Daniel's birth mother just before I left for work. I then went to work with a big red nose from the strain of trying not to blub!

Not to worry - I got told to f* off by a 6 yr old today, so that put everything into context!

Just to endorse what everyone else is saying - I am tearful too! And how lovely and generous of you to feel that way about Daniel's birth mother. I am sure that will help him so much when he is old enough to understand "his story" - what is Daniel's ethnic orgin Kew- I know the video mentioned place names but my geography isn't too good!
