Argh title should say Nespresso.
(why can’t we edit titles?)

Wanting to use pods occasionally. Which is the best of these machines, please?

Definitely nespresso. Avoid anything with milk in the pod like tassimo, they're very sweet and it good coffee at all.

I've got a Dolce Gusto and hate it, I don't like the dried milk taste and I can taste it in every single pod flavour they do.
I bought a Nespresso to replace it as you use fresh milk, and it's gorgeous.
No contest!

I have a Lavazza Desea and I love it. I prefer the taste of Lavazza coffee to the Nespresso coffee. There isn't the same range as Nespresso but I only really drink the passionale and the dek cremoso pods anyway so it works for me.

I love the fact that you make the cappuccino in one cup - just put the required amount of milk in, put the special top on the cup, insert a capsule, press the cappuccino button and.... bingo, a nice hot cappucino is made. There's no having to clean a separate frother aside from the top of the mug. I've had it for three years now, making two to four cups a day and it's been fab.

You can get them on a coffee subscription too so you only pay a £1 for the machine.

Nespresso for me. The range of coffees available is huge and I'm lactose intolerant so I don't drink milky coffees anyway unless with milk substitute.

I'm using the old style machine with the smaller pods. The new style dome nespresso pods are so expensive even though the machines are cheaper. Apparently Nespresso have the patent on those pods for another 6 years so no one else can offer alternatives for that particular machine.

I'm a gusto fan on our third machine, its used that much ( though one got taken off to work after lockdown) . I see there is a comment above re powdered milk taste, I don't agree with this -my fav is actually just the basic Americano style coffee that I add fresh milk milk to, that's my morning go to , so that's no reason to prefer Nespresso, like their espressos later in day, my daughter is the flat white and cappuccino fan, son the hot chocolates. We had an Nespresso at work but had lots of faulty capsules with it, not sure why , brought old gusto from home and its been a hit,

I have a machine from aldi that can use nespresso style or dolce gusto pods (different adapters). I use the nespresso pods for coffee, and the DC for hot chocolate.

I'm a tassimo fan, I don't use the milk pods, I only use XL pods as they give the biggest cup of coffee and just add a drop of normal milk.

Nespresso, but I have the vertuo version because one shot of espresso just isn’t enough. With the vertuo you can get two shot pods or a variety of different sizes. It is wonderful.

How do you clean the milk container?

I have one too. There's no milk container, just a glass mug that comes with an attachment frother.

I love my Desea. It's been going since 2021, no issues. Lavazza coffee is really good. Their range is far from elaborate but they have some good staples. 'For Africa' is a new favourite but they have decent staples. I use the milk frother to make hot chocolate for my sons, and decaf cappuccino for DH.

Lavazza, hands down no comparison for the cheaper ones.

I was very kindly given a gusto machine and coffee pods by a fellow mnetter at the start of lockdown and we all absolutely love it, its been used every day since and still going strong.

bellamountain · 04/10/2023 17:35

Tassimo My Way using the Colombian Kenco pods is by far the best.

wellywacker · 04/10/2023 17:40

Huge tassimo fan.

I have a Senseo machine which uses sachets like a tea bag. Very popular in Spain, Germany Netherlands.
Easy to use and we buy the coffee on amazon or other online sites.
