Emma mattresses - any thoughts?

I need a new mattress for my bed and saw that the Emma mattresses have currently got great offers on but I’ve never bought one without lying on it first! Has anyone got an Emma mattress? How would you describe it?

I like a firmish mattress with a softer top layer. I’m replacing a pocket strung mattress with a foam top layer

If it's like the pillows, rock hard. I've never tried the mattress though!

I wouldn't. I have a couple of friends who did recently, found customer service to be poor before it even arrived and the mattereses themselves to be really uncomfortable.

I know they let you return them but it's not an eco friendly business model!

I bought one - it was way too hard to sleep on so I ended up giving it away and buying a Simba which is much more comfortable. You do have to remember to rotate it periodically though (the Simba) or it gets a big saggy. Neither are as comfortable as my beloved Tempur mattress though but I couldn't get that into the loft so it now lives in the spare bedroom...

I have both mattress and pillows. I love them. Currently resident on my emma mattress as I have COVID. Feeling miserable and ill in comfort!

We've got a superking Simba and my daughter has got a single Emma and I prefer the Emma, it's really comfortable.
I can't comment on the customer service because I've never needed it, you can try it for a certain amount of time though and return it if you're not happy.

Our other daughter needs a new mattress and we're getting her an Emma one too.

I absolutely love ours! Has it two years now and still super comfy.

Mattresses are such a personal thing though. One person's too firm is another person's too soft. Personally I find it firmish but not super firm.

We bought the Emma hybrid mattress , so sprung with a memory foam layer, which provided the right level of support but not too firm. We had good service too,, bought it when they had special offer on so a good price. I do find the foam layer makes it warm, but I like a cosy bed. My son has Emma mattress ( not the hybrid) and he loves it too. But as someone said it’s personal choice really.

Rock hard. Hate ours, worst thing I’ve ever bought!

We had one and returned it for a refund asap. It was horrible and I cried through lack of sleep. Never been so uncomfortable at night.

My partner bought an Emma. Horrible, its like trying to sleep on wet sand.

He regrets it

Bought an Emma essentials.... Total poo! So thin we could feel the slats. Total waste of time.

The most uncomfortable thing in the world. I wake up with back and hip ache.
After posting on here moaning as I ended up on the sofa it was that uncomfortable. someone kindly suggested I contact them and they would send me a soft topper FOC. Which they did, I had to fold it in half so I’m now higher than dh. It’s better on my back but my hips still ache.

DH loves it though.

Got mattress and bedding recently. Find the mattress confortable enough. Pillows are rock hard, I like them, DP doesn't. However, the duvet is INCREDIBLE -just like a big comfy cloud hugging to me sleep ever so gentle every night Grin

Had one and returned it, it gave me awful back pain. The man in the bed shop I went to looking for a new one said that the Emma was actually probably too soft (even though I thought it was rock hard).

I’ve got a Relyon memory ortho superior and it’s fantastic.

We loved ours for about 12 months then suddenly it kind of sank where we sleep, leaving a little walk in between us! Still comfy enough but can't see it lasting much longer, had it about 2 years. Would not recommend or buy it again.

I'm so surprised at some of these comments!

We've had ours for 2 years along with the pillows. Yes it was a bit firm initially but it's softened up a bit now and both of us love it! Sorted my bad back right out Grin

People rave about the ikea hovag mattress so we got one for the spare room and I find that twice as firm and really uncomfortable.

I'm not a fan. I think it would be ok for a spare room but not for regular use. I wake up with back pain.

Love, love, love mine and I'm generally a warm person. Have had it since February 2019 and not struggled with feeling too hot.

We bought the Emma hybrid, SO uncomfortable, we contacted them to have the additional topper, which did improve things, but in the end we also bought a Panda mattress topper for another £130, and now it's comfortable.

We bought ours over a year ago - I LOVE it so much we bought a double for the spare for 'snoring' nights. Friends stayed one weekend and both have since purchased. I do not work for Emma Grin

I love ours, we had a problem with the first one and the customer service was brilliant.

I have the microfibre pillow which is wonderful, I love a soft pillow. DH has the original pillow which is hard.

I have a Simba which is similar. DH loves it, I miss our cheap Ikea memory foam. Plus point is that it doesn't move when the other person is tossing and turning. Minus is that it's rock hard and you don't melt into it like a memory foam. I'm used to it after 5 years but still don't love it.
