I think the point was that Hollowtalk's children was prevented (by the government) from spending valuable time with their father before he passed away. The same government considered it acceptable to have social gatherings for themselves and their friends.

If they thought it ok to have social events, why did they not allow families to see seriously ill family members? Do they consider themselves to be more important? Or do they not consider the needs of the public at all?

You were careful to say Parliament and not Government. If you hadn't been, the irony would be outrageous. As it is, parliament as a whole can only function to affect those areas of concern if the government come up with policy, so you can't blame 'Parliament.'

I don't know where the report is but it seems as if people are watching their backs and the report is being combed through very carefully.

As for the posters saying that instead of focusing on the report we should focus on the mess the country is in, I quite agree but it doesn't help if 10 Downing Street is staffed by people who like to party rather than concentrate on what they are supposed to be doing and work hard!

Different departments can have very different cultures & atmospheres.

It feels like we are slipping into a wormhole where the parties that Johnson said didn't happen, that turned out to have happened, can't be published in case its damaging to the people who attended the parties that didn't happen but in fact did.

Maybe Gray is having trouble tracking all the receipts for cheese, wine, ambush cakes and booze fridges?

I daresay there wouldn't be so much care taken in fact checking & protecting reputations if the investigation was into any of the public breaking lockdown rules.

DD1 suggested she was put of printer ink - I wondered if the lap top had died.

Watching newsnight last night I supect it more delaying - this time blaming police - and it seems to have somewhat worked as their focus groups was angry but also very fed up with it all and wanting to move on - and couldn't see an alternative PM they liked.

Well, those with parents, siblings, husbands and friends dying in hospital and care homes didn't break the rules, did they? My children couldn't be in the same room as their dad for several months before he died (he had a long illness and was in a hospital setting.) He died around the time that Boris and his mates were partying. You can't rule the country and have one rule for everyone else and one for yourself.

So sorry you and your children went through this. Horrific at anytime. Worse when restrictions are in place.

But they weren't part of the party who created them.

And actually I don't trust someone to do all the above who had lied and broken their own rules.

Legal scrubbing was mentioned a lot last night. Checking no persons are identified who should not be or who are seemingly accused wrongly of misconduct etc. They’re trying to get it into form where further redactions won’t be necessary prior to wider publication.
Assumed that would be done by now.
Maybe it’s to give some time to pack bags over the weekend ?
