Omg help.

On antibiotics and codine. I’m absolute agony. I have pericoronitis in my top right wisdom tooth, the pain has spread to my ear, the top of my mouth and my lymph node under my jaw. I want to cry. Iv not ate properly in days as I can’t seem to open my mouth enough and to chew absolutely kills. I feel sooo run down.

😩😭😭😭

Doctor has given me proper codeine now. Im on 60mg with ibropurfen and paracetamol. It’s definitely took the edge off! I managed to eat bread and soup!

Can you get some milkshakes for a bit of energy? Perhaps some Complan drinks as well.

Co codamol is the strongest painkiller you can buy at the chemists.

I really feel for you, dental pain is horrendous.

Thank you. I think it’s starting to drain as the taste is vile but my god the pain!! It’s woken me up for more painkillers, it doesn’t seem to go, it’s just always there. I’m so bloody hungry as well

Try a warm hot water bottle against the side of your face.

It sounds absolutely awful. I was told the antibiotics can take at least three days before you feel an improvement.. not much comfort right now when you are in agony, but I'm really hoping they start to work for you soon.

When I had an abscess I numbed the area with some local anaesthetic sore throat spray. It had antiseptic in it as well.

I agree that clove oil is amazing, but try to keep it away from soft mouthparts as it's very irritating. I used to dab it on with a cotton bud then cover with some cotton wool pad.

I hope you find some relief soon.

Clove oil is amazing at numbing the area, sock some gauge with it and put it on the area.

Salt water, keep on top of pain relief all the time paracetamol and nerofen, the antibiotics will kick in soon op.

Warm salt water as often as you can. Better than any mouthwash.

I was seen on Tuesday but only managed to get antibiotics today. I’m taking metronidazole 400g, oral gel and codeine. Nothing is helping.

It is absolutely the worst pain, I feel for you. I had this in one of my bottom wisdom teeth just before Christmas, it was agony. I couldn't open my jaw properly for ages afterwards too.

Which antibiotics are you on? I was on both metronidazole and amoxicillin and it did slowly get better. I've got an appointment to get the tooth out as apparently it is likely to happen again!

Buy some chlorhexidine mouthwash and use that 2-3 times per day, you can also water it down a little and using a medicine syringe blast any debris away from the gum/tooth.

It does sound like you should seek medical advice again though, you might need a different or stronger antibiotic.

Oh god I feel for you. I had to get my wisdom teeth out due to this. There is a great mouthwash that ‘fizzes’ and helps clean out any trapped debris, Colgate Peroxyl

When were you last seen by a medic? If the infection seems to be spreading you need to be seen ASAP, bone infection affecting the skull is really serious.
