Strangest thing you've found or what have you found in the strangest place?

This morning while walking down a super busy road in a built up area I found a baby chick. An actual fluffy, yellow, cheeping, Happy Easter, chick. It was just stood on the pavement watching the traffic speed by. An utterly bizarre WTF moment before I scooped him up in a muslin and took him home.

He's been collected by a local vets and will have a happy home with one of their staff.

But it made me wonder what weird, wonderful and whacky things others have found?

Strangest thing you've found or what have you found in the strangest place?

Lovely chick story: I'm going to start carrying round a piece of muslin, too, just in case.
Not so keen on the headless pigeon tale !Shock

One of my sons finds money in the most random places since he could walk! He's an old teen now and it still happens

Really old £20 notes in hedges in the middle of nowhere... I only stopped to look at a hot air ballon! .... £50 in the gutter by our car years ago all folded up in a square covered in mud! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh I forgot, we found a budgie. He was very friendly and hopped on my head and we brought him in and put a sign on the gate. The owner got in touch and they were happily reunited.

My dog found a bloody tooth in the garden.

When I was about ten I looked out of my bedroom window one day and saw a blue budgie sat in a tree in our garden, then it flew off. Obviously it had escaped from somewhere, but was odd all the same.

A canary in the middle of a busy high st. She was brown so looked like a sparrow but noticed she was rung. Caught her, took her to the pet shop, changed my mind an hour later and went back and got her and she came to live with me. Sung happily at the music channel until the flat below moaned and she went to live with my nan instead

A child’s t-shirt washed and ironed in my wardrobe! WTH where did it come from.
My earring that I’d lost on holiday years before turned up on the floor in the middle of my bedroom, just out of nowhere.
A boarded up room in a new house found full of clothes shoes and magazines. All in men’s sizes. Wasn’t expecting that.

Oh I'm liking these!

@ItsNotNormalLove did they manage to release the note without it wandering?
"

Yes! They immediately got back in the car, moved it forward a few inches, got out and pocketed the cash! Lucky it wasn't a windy day Grin

My daughter found rich tea biscuits on her room. We don't buy them, and no one had been in her room.

I found a horseshoe in my bed. Noone has been in my house for 3 days. I have never been able to come up with a rational reason as to how it got there

WTAF.

When my in-laws lived in a rural bit of France they found an old machine gun on a shelf in the attic, hidden behind the roof beams! They told the local police, who took it away. I think it ended up in a museum somewhere. Apparently their property was used as a safe house by the resistance in the war. A few months later they found a mouldy old rucksack full of bullets buried in the garden. It was near Saint-Savinien (although not exactly "near" anywhere).

Years ago there was a burglary at my nans house and her engagement ring was stolen. Almost all of her other jewellery was costume, and wasn't touched (it was as if they knew where and what to look for!).

About 5 years after the burglary my grandpa died. A few weeks later my nan opened a drawer that she used every single day and there the ring was, sitting right on top of everything.

I think it probably had, I was generally known for being daydreamy and not listening but I think in hindsight I maybe couldn't hear properly because of my ear stone. I wouldn't have noticed because presumably it had been there since I was tiny. It was only a tiny pebble, my mum reminded me of it today 🤣

When we lived in London we found a headless pigeon on our terrace. There was a bloody mark on the railing where the pigeon had hit on the way onto our terrace. We were 5 floors up and there were no buildings higher than 3 floors on that side of our building.

I found a budgie floating in a canal once, had to rescue it with a fisherman's net. I also once had to catch a loose point that had four out point a road at night, luckily it had a headcollar on.

I've recently bought a derelict house and found old porn magazine in a hidden hatch. Women had alot more hair then!!!

Poor chick was probably heading for the macerater. It's about the age they throw unwanted male chicks from the egg industry alive into a blender.

Meant to say, so glad you rescued that dear little chick 🐥

When I was a child my parents found a long hunting horn in the garage of our perfectly ordinary suburban house.

Report
shreddednips · 06/10/2020 22:25

My parents' house is very old, and when we were fixing the fireplace we found an ancient pair of trousers rolled up and stuffed between the stones. Apparently they used to put clothing items into walls to ward off evil!

When I was about 10, I tipped my head to the side and a small stone fell out of my ear. It was encased in earwax (EnvyConfused) and I had no recollection of putting it in there, so I assume it had been there since I was tiny.
