What name(s) do you irrationally hate?

I'll start.

Denise.

I don't know any Denises... I'm sure they're lovely. But the name just rubs me up the wrong way.

NOTE: No Karen bashing please! Because it's been hijacked as a name and it's not fair on Karens.

@Cissyandflora

William. When people say Willy- am I feel embarrassed. I have to say Will - yum. Even if they call themselves Willy- am.

‘Housemaids’ names’. Milly, Tilly, Molly, Polly, Evie, Daisy, Maisie. etc.

Anything ending in -May or MAE.

Kaden, Kason, Preston, Jaxon- however this is not irrational. These are AWFUL non-names.

@Pepper54

Archie, have known 2 and they were both the most horrible bullies, sneaky with it too. One physically beat up another boy in a classroom and the school said ‘Archie was on a journey’. Angry The other boy left that day and never came back (poor thing was completely traumatised). Name makes me shudder. I think this qualifies as irrational as obviously there must be a million lovely Archies.

Archie was on a journey? Where to, prison?

@CalicoKate

It's funny, this thread is about names people irrationally hate, and full of lots of normal names, but I've noticed on similar threads if you mention Matthew someone will leap to It's defence. Maybe the same person each time, but the point of the thread is that it's irrational, so no need to defend the names. My name and my kids' names have all been mentioned, but that's fine. People are allowed to not like them!

Amen to that, some people are fantastically thin skinned. Just because your ickle preshus is named Cressida-Jezzlyn or whatever doesn't mean that others are obliged to like the name. Learn to separate the name from the person.

@Frazzledd I didn’t know that! Just adds fuel to my hate fire haha. I’m amazed at how it’s become so popular.

One that I dont’t actually hate but is in a similar vein is Candida. I mean I’m sure it’s a classical name that the vagina-loving yeast was unfortunately named after, but who would actually use it for a child now? Posh people yes, but surely there is a line. May as tell call your kid Vagisil. Or Canestan 😂

It’s kind of amazing that it’s become so popular really.

It’s also got far too many syllables. It’s annoying to say.

“ Chunkymenrock

Amelia and Emilia. How can a name containing mealy be remotely attractive? Amealy mealy mealy mealy uh Emealy mealy mealy mealy uh.”

😂😂😂

This is SO true! Love it. Abigail is in a similar vein to my ears. It just sounds really unattractive, like some kind of medical condition.
