"Thinking Beyond: Transversal Transfeminisms" conference

I'm a member of the Postcolonial Studies Association, and just received a mail out about a "conference" that's taking place at Roehampton University in July this year.

The call for papers is here in full:

but here is a taster. Such loaded language:

"The English-speaking world has recently rehearsed a series of attacks against the experiences and identities of trans people. From the Trump administration’s aggressive policing of trans soldiers in the military, to rampant transphobia in the UK’s feminist circles arising from the
recent consultation about the Gender Recognition Act, political tensions have lately brought renewed attention to the ideological schisms at work within our societies at large and within feminist communities more specifically. It is therefore more important than ever to bring
together the discourses of feminism, gender and sexuality studies, queer theory, and trans studies, in an attempt at generating dialogue across discursive borders, and in solidarity with the recent plights of trans people.

The divisive threat of trans-exclusionary radical feminism is once again upon us. As Patricia Elliot observes, “[s]adly, the ‘rage of radical feminist theories’ […] has not entirely disappeared. It reappears in various theoretical positions, political practices, and attitudes and has caused a major rift among feminists, as well as good deal of pain for transpersons.” As an antidote to such schisms, Elliot proposes a transversal methodology amongst the members of feminist and LGBT+ communities, a mode of thought recognizing their different experiences as well as those aspects that are shared.”

Thats very worrying from a university. Its also worryingly stupid.
'trans exclusionary' feminists are arguing to keep the status quo since we already had to fight for it once.
Its the people who are demanding change who are being divisive.

Sadly a lot of academics no longer see themselves as having an obligation to their discipline or to integrity and rigour in conducting research. They see their jobs as an opportunity for political activism, often directed at the narcissistic validation of their own identities, and for the reproduction of middle-class, liberal power.

I'm tempted to submit a gender critical paper, but I'm almost 100% certain that it wouldn't be accepted.

Oh bloody hell.

I'd urge all of the divisive and threatening trans-exclusionary radical feminists <chough ERFS chough>
To go to this one to have their say.

I think it's pretty clear from the CfP that you are only allowed to think about these issues in one way.

recognizing their different experiences as well as those aspects that are shared

I'm not an academic, but other than making bad lipstick or clothing choices, I cannot think of any experience that I share with transwomen that is not also shared with men?

Just read the link. I'm not sure these people are the same species as me any more. I love postposttranssexuality, please someone enlighten me.
We welcome presentation proposals on any trans, feminist, and queer issues, but we would
particularly encourage paper proposals on the following topics:
• Trans and feminist representation in visual
and print media
• Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminism
• Trans and feminist perspectives on
• Trans and feminist translation
• Intersectionality
• Indigeneity
• Postcolonialism
• Kinship studies
• Transgeneric narratives
• Transmediality

How far up your own arse can actually you get. That is a long list of nonsense words for people who have spent much too much time navel gazing.
Meanwhile, work, kids to feed, bills to pay, elderly parents to look after. FFS.

A paper on The Role of the Mumsnet Hive Mind in developing Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminism. We can present together.

I'm slightly surprised they left Transhumanism out of that list.

Women refusing to cooperate with being colonised, and the whole concept of womanhood broken down and used for parts by men.

Who'd a thunk. Evil bitches.

(Can any of these twats express themselves in plain English? Is word salad and made up words part of the affliction?)

The main message I’m getting from this pretentious word salad is thus:

Baaaad TERFs! Evil women! Boo hoo!

Am I on the right track?
