Hope this link works:

Please have a look. If your MP is on there, is it worth another quick email to them? A link to BetsyM00's amazing resource thread?

I feel a bit sick now, like the bit in Indiana Jones where the huge ball drops and starts to roll.

Twitter. I think we need to tweet them? Do we? I am tempted to set up a Twitter thing just for this purpose. The Early Day Motion accepts all these crazy recommendations which are presented without any evidence to back them up. Aaagh!

"recognises that verbal, physical and sexual assaults towards those with a non-cis gender identity is the highest of all minority hate-crime, with over half of transgender women reporting they have been sexually or physically assaulted."

^^This is just factually wrong for a start.

It's shitty, but I don't think it's too much to worry about in and of itself. We know that's what they think after that ridiculous inquiry. It's interesting to see who has signed it. We need to raise more awareness. I'm more concerned about Theresa May blithely saying that the law will be changed yesterday.

I think that assault stat is bullshit. They are not assaulted more than women.

Report
jellyfrizz · 19/10/2017 09:14

Also non-cis? And why only 'transgender women' mentioned in terms of assault reported?

It was probably drafted by Paris Lees or someone.

And how does self-ID lead to less discrimination and assault?

MacaroonMama · 19/10/2017 09:20

Yep, that bit about "specialist GPS" reminds me of that meandering Trans Agenda - do you remember? The one about wanting all this NHS spending etc.

It is the 'accepting in full' that worries me. Not even questioning where this stuff is coming from.

The Edinburgh Action for Trans Health one that people thought was a joke at first, it was so ridiculous in its many demands?

MacaroonMama · 19/10/2017 09:24

Exactly jellyfrizz - people who assault and discriminate are not going to suddenly change their minds in the presence of a GRC! It is illogical.

Speeding up such a life-changing process is a really bad idea. If people really wanted looking after while transitioning (the genuine transgender people), surely they would want medication that has been tested and is safe, and lots of counselling/psychiatric assessment to help them through it?

No. Just, no.

The latest government data (published 17 October 2017) shows that transgender hate-crime is the LOWEST of all minority hate crime, with 1,248 offences in the past year.

For comparison, top was race (62,685), followed by sexual orientation (9,157), religion (5,949) and disability (5,558).
