There's a take away in the city centre with an add in the window offering a 'free lapdance' in the window...

Wouldnt bother me. Don't see what the problem is. No one will force you to but this take away and go redeem the free lapdance.

Each to their own

This would make me furious. Its throwing in a naked woman as a freebie, like a plastic toy in a box of cereal - treating women as a mere commodity. I'd complain about it - perhaps to the council? How must young women and school girls feel walking past this sign - it is totally objectifying. :(

Exactly Skater! Even my 13 year old son has said it's out of order. I'm not sure who to complain to.

i hear you...sex as a free commodity Sad

i'd start with local council and go from there

Who would I need to speak to? It's in the window so you can't miss it.

actually scratch that

have you been into the shop itself and complained?

Go in and ask loudly if you can have a male lap dancer with your food.

If they say no, ask why it is that they are only favouring their male, heterosexual customers and why it is that they are only treating women like freebie commodities to give away.

Also, you could ask how they would hope to actually ensure performance of the contract if each of the women in the club refused to dance for a particular customer. What agreement do they have with the club owners regarding the pressure that would be put on the women to ensure that the customer gets his dance?

Alternatively, you could put your questions in writing and see if your local newspaper would be interested in publishing the response (or lack of one).

No, it's one of those late night burger places for the pissed up people. I'm sad and don't go out that late. Blush

Oh, I bet the newspaper would like a story. Wink

I'll write to the local paper. Good plan, thank you. Smile I'm not sure my fb followers will be a lot of help though.

I think I'd complain to the owners of the establishment first. They or one of their employees would have agreed to display the advert so they would be the ones who would take it down.

If you get the brush off, say you'll go to the local papers. It's not likely to do their business any good if you do.

The problem with adverts like this being in take away windows next to those advertising a room for let or second hand sideboard going cheap is that it "normalises" the buying and selling of women and girls for sexual purposes. The more you see things like this, the less strange and uncomfortable the idea becomes.

sometimes a mention on fb raises awareness though - i'm sure lots of my fb friends are sick of me and my campaigning Wink but i care not, they know where the 'unfriend' button is

Ok, I'll write to the owners first and see if it's removed. I disagree with women being seen as a sex object, we are people in our own right. I'm trying to raise my son to value women and their contributions to society but it appears to be an uphill struggle.

FFS this takes treating women like a peice of meat to a whole new level.

I'll pop past on the school run and take a picture. I find it disgusting. There was an advert in the window of a clothes shop last year (Officers club I think), for a competition to Ibiza or somewhere which had a woman's body dressed in just a bikini (and with oversized breasts). I found that disgusting, this is far worse though.

Go in and say you will not buy anything from there till it's taken down. Get your son to do it too (that'll make them think) and persuade anyone else who's local to do it. The threat to the business will be what motivates them. Could then try local paper etc.

Is it inside the window facing out, or inside the shop IYSWIM?

You could try the council's licensing dept. They sometimes have restrictions on what can and can't be shown on an advert.
