Breaking Dawn.....

Anyone else disappointed. Sorry if I'm dragging up old stuff, but couldn't find a thread recently....

I loved the other 3, and the chapters of Midnight Sun online (Eclipse and MS my faves). Held off from BD until I would have time to read 48hrs straight as I can't put them down, and it kept me involved, but it just wasn't the same.

I think it was because there's no yearning/longing/torture of being apart anymore. Edward seems to spend the whole book worried - after the beginning, they don't seem like the same couple or even the same people.

Anyone else feel the same???

I was a little disappointed as well. It seemed all about tying up loose ends but not that exciting really.

Have to say I too was disappointed. I was a bit bored during Jacob's story. I did enjoy when Bella turned but what have liked to have a read a bit more about the Cullens as well. Eclipse is my favourite.

I was disappointed with the Jacob POV, I don't really like him so it was a bit of a drag to read his POV.

It's a shame it came to an end though, I read all four books over the space of a fortnight.

The 1st half is good and quite gory in places but it drags on in the 2nd half with the yawn-some volturi

I really hated book 4, i wanted the whole will she wont she to drag on, thought it was a bit lame how her dad reacted.
All a bit shite.

Yup dissappointed- felt she had lost her way with the story - think Twilight was her best out of all 4.

I was disappointed too. The things that drew me to Edward, his cheeky, slightly teasing personality, seems to be gone and he becomes a bit of a doormat. Also by the end of the book Bella is completely unregognisable.

I thought the middle section got way to freakish and gory. And I didn't like the whole Renesmee thing at all. The book was great up till that point. Other low points were the Jacob POV section and the long boring drawn-out build-up to the confrontation with the Volturi.

QOD · 27/07/2009 17:15

Yeah the Volturi and the stretching her bag, LOL was lame.

I didnt mind it.I suppose she had to tie up all the loose ends. And tbh, my very sad obsession with Edward would see me read anything with him in it. (And I do mean obsession. I read all four books in 9 days and afterwards actually found myself getting annoyed with DH because basically he wasnt Edward was he?)O that note see on her website that she hasstarted writing dnight Sn which is Twilight from Edwards point of view.Chapter 1 draft is on there already.I swooned a bit when I saw that.[sadasyoulike emoticon]

The bits I didnt like were her calling the child 'Renesmee'.Lame.And why did everyone all of a sudden start calling Jasper 'Jazz'? which I found cringeworthy for some reason. Also the confrontation with the Volturi could've done with something more exciting.Someone, probably Esme should have got killed to spice it up a bit.

Eclipse was the best.I loved it.

Sorry my keyboard is buggered. It should say, 'Midnight Sun'

TheGreatScootini, there are actually 12 chapters of Midnight Sun on the site. SM posted the first chapter, then someone leaked the rest to the web, so she published them all on her site and stopped writing the book. She says she's not going to finish it, which is very sad. What there is is very good though.

JimJammum · 27/07/2009 21:28

Actually, on her website she has now decided she will finish it, which is absolutely fantastic for those of us who loved the pre-doormat Edward. Apparantly, will not write anymore from Edward's POV as said he was suicidal during New Moon and that would not be fun to "live" through.
Has anyone checked out the New Moon cast interviews from Comic Con in the states on You-tube???? Ok, if the film franchise floats your boat too.....

Where did you see this? The last update on the site, August 2008, says she won't be finishing it.

Says "on hold indefinitely"

So we can only hope she decides to continue :/

I missed the whole Jasper becoming Jazz.... :S

I thought it said she had decided to carry on writing it..(after the entry where she said she wasnt)I am counting on her writing it.I will be destroyed if she doesnt.
12 chapters you say?I have only seen the one.Im off now..be back in about 11 chapters time.

I really need to get over this!

LyraSilvertongue · 28/07/2009 15:29

No, the bit where she said it was her next project was June 2008 - before the top entry (Aug 2008) when she said she'd abandoned it.

TheGreatScootini, we live in the same obsessed world. My dp is very jelous of Edward. I have to wait till he is out of the house or in bed so I can read again. I feel like im having an affair with a fictional charactor! I have gone about 2 months without picking up a twilight book but caved after lending the first one to a friend in work.

It does say somewhere on her site that she will finnish Midnight Sun but she wants to do some other projects first. That was before The Host had been published though so it was a while ago. SM is very quiet on her blog lately so hopefully she will be writing more Midnight Sun.

Id love to read New Moon from Edwards POV. wonder what he said to Jasper when jasper tried to eat Bella, or Rosalie when she phoned him to say she was dead.

My DH just groans now whenever he sees me with it.He did consider getting me professional help when he realised that I literally went on no journey longer than 15 mins without a copy of one of the books.I have slightly moved on from that phase now, but only really because I had alot of work stuff to carry and it was making my bag shoulder ache.

I actually tried to read another book a few weeks ago (usually I am a massive reader), but felt like I was cheating on Edward so found it hard to concentrate.

Pretty soon I am going to have to go Cold Turkey. Its the only way.

My only comfort in all of this is that my sister got me into it, and is as mental about it as me, but she may be viwed as sadder as she is 48 and should really know better (as opposed to me at 29 ).That said she can blame it on on some sort of mid life crisis, which at least is a tangible excuse.

Have you read the edited bits that didnt make it into the books on the website?I loved the getting ready for the prom one, but also the one about Emmett.I think that shoud've been left in as it explained him a bit better and I quite like him as a character but feel he never quite gets enough coverage.

I too have gone cold turkey - reading every other vampire book I can get my hands on! I have read all the stuff on the website and also lots of fan fiction stuff and check newmoonmovie.org every day!

Teamcullen, if you look at the deleted chapters on SM's site, there's the scene where Rosalie calls Edward to tell him Bella's dead. There are lots of others too. Go to the book you want, then select outtakes.

aghhhhh!!! Thanks LyraSilvertongue. Im going to look. Im so excited.

By the way I tried to pick up Northern Lights to stop me reading Twilight. I love His Dark Materials but it was put down again because I was missing Edward.

Will read it again though before the end of this year.

Boo to you Team Edward members - I only really enjoyed the Jacob parts of BD! It was all Edward looking wretched and Rosalie being 'mama tiger' with Bella.

The whole jacob/nessie imprinting bit was rubbish but enjoyed reading more about Leah & Seth.

Volturi bit dragggged on far too much and a lot of it was just padding.

Will still keep re-reading it of course
