Let's lose a stone together

I looked in the mirror this morning, and realised that I could no longer blame "baby weight" for my baggy tummy as my 7 month old sat gooing at me. So, I want to lose a stone. Gone are the days for crash dieting for me, and this time it's for ever. So anyone want to join me, so we can support, and encouragement along the way?

Panda, I'm happy to join you, I've been following a weight loss programme for a while now and lost over 5 stones - still have 3 to go (don't ask how the hell I managed to put on that much weight, it's a long story !).

Anyway, I'm following the GI Diet (there's a thread), but I like to join other threads too as it helps with shorter term targets.

So, I'm up for it - however I'm going away for a week this Sat, so won't be around during that time - happy to start now or in about a week, I'll be continuing my diet while on hols anyway.

Excellent Puff - thought I was the only one here!! Well done on such a fab weight loss so far. That's amazing.

I'm just counting calories at the moment, we'll see how that goes. I'll weigh in once a week on a Wednesday, and will let you know the weeks loss/gain/ stay same.

I started last Wednesday - couldn't put it off any longer. So far so good! Mind you I think the heat's helping! Have a great hols and "speak" to you after your return!

Hello...I've joined a couple of these threads before but just never really got going...given up in other words but I am now desperate, I have about 3 stone to lose (I've never been this fat in my life)and I'm starting to feel it's here for life so I'd like to join in and really really need to do it as I'm sure my health is going down the pan fast...and I won't buy clothes or go out anywhere..so this time it must work. I find it hard because I work from home and I am sat in front of the computer all day every day.

[determined and irritated with myself emoticon}

Hi Lemonice, I can understand how hard it must be sitting at home. I think the thing for me (so far) has been to write down everything (and I mean everything) that I eat during the day and calculate the calories as I go. That way I know what I've had, and what I can still have during the day.

It's so hard isn't it? Still if we think positive and help each other out, we can do it! What day is everyone else going to weigh?

I usually weight myself on a Tuesday, so I'll post weight loss (or otherwise!) then. I am going to try to be good while I'm away - we're self catering so hopefully I can resist too much tempatation!

Glad you're joining in too lemonice .

Welcome too Jambo. Wotsit mmmm! Still fruit can be just as tasty. Lemonice - know what you mean, every time I've told DH that I'm on a diet he looks at me as if to say "heard that one before". Well this time, I'm determined to prove him wrong!!

Friday it is for you - we'll ask you next week how you got on! How about you Jambo, what day of the week are you going to confess all?

Hello
I think I would like to join too.
I lost 1.5 stone last year on weight watchers. Put a quite a bit back on whilst TTC and through my pregnancy ( sadly miscarried. Am TTC again, but as it took so long last time (7months) should try to lose some weight again.
I think I really need to lose 2 stone.
I have been swimming twice this week( 20 laps each time , but have been eating icecream as a reward for theexercise grrr
When should weigh in day be?

Hi Cori - yeah, a whole club of people to motivate each other. Think we're all choosing our own weigh in day as we've all started at different times. You let us know when you'll weigh and we'll ask at that day of the week (if the information isn't proffered!!)

Think so panda

Dissapointed really as before I had my hystectomy 3.5 wks ago I had lost 12lb at my diet class on calorie count.

But as I have been poorly my carbs intake is high along with chocolate and crisps

Don't be hard on yourself Jambo - a major operation like that is bound to cause a setback!! Plus, chocolate is a great healer . Don't push yourself too hard, you're still healing. Good luck though - look forward to chatting with you.

Hi all - can I join in? I need to ideally lose about 4 stone, but losing 2 would get me into my pre-baby clothes again!

Today's day 1 of the eating sensibly diet and I can't believe how slow the day's going!! HATE being on/thinking about dieting, but know I've got to... Am aiming to lose 2 stone by September..!

PandaBear · 28/06/2005 12:41

Hi dot1. I know what you mean dieting is such a bore isn't it. My day goes from eating breakfast, to thinking about when I can eat lunch etc. I know I can be obsessive about food, but last night I even dreamed about a chocolate bar - sad but true!

Still, it's my weigh in tomorrow lunch time, so hopefully it will have been worth it!

A stone is my short time goal - I actually want to lose 2, but I thought it would be a good start!

Just had special K for my lunch - aarrggghhh!! I'm hoping to kick start the diet and have special K for lunch this week and next week (and then I'm on holiday!), but it's soooooo boring - and I'm hungry already and wondering what's for tea!

hi all, i've lost a stone since about 4mth ago. am now 13stone, could do with losing another 2 stone really. Haven't lost any more for the last month, a proper plateau!! Again, ditto to the "can't blame pregnancy pounds" comments. Am swimming once or twice a week, but am SOOOO knackered after work sometimes i just want to slump, eat crap and watch eastenders.

have tried lo carb diets before, don't really work for me. The stone i've already lost is through calorie counting (average of 1500 a day, so it allows for "saturday night steak night" - a regular occurance in our house!!)

tip:- keep a graph of weight loss on the door of the cupboard with biscuits and other naughties in. It keeps your hands off.
