Shredding for the Wedding.

Hey everyone.

We have just set a date for our wedding and I would like to lose some weight for it.

Is anybody else in the same boat and would like to join me?

I’m currently a size 16 and would like to get to a size 12, and my wedding is in 7 months.

Yes!

How much are you looking to lose? I want to lose 20pounds.
Wedding in April 2020 and then again in May 2020

How are you going about it? I'm calorie counting, keeping a diary and doing exercise. Good luck!

Well not MY wedding but I am a bridesmaid for a 2021 wedding and need to go from size 18/16 to a 14 hopefully! Need my jaw wired shut!

Grinmight be a bit drastic.

PandaMa When is the wedding?
Do you have any plan of how you're gonna do it?

@Handsmaid I am looking to lose approx 20lbs as well, maybe 24lbs ish.
2 weddings? I’m jealous Grin. We are having a really small wedding in Feb, then a garden party in April!

I’m just planning on eating less of the junk food, specifically chocolate and ice cream in the evenings in front of the telly.

@PandaMa I agree, a tad extreme! Grin
What are your weaknesses? Mine are chocolate and ice cream!

Oh and I’m also trying my own version of low card. Basically I’m allowing myself 1 carb meal a day, either breakfast or lunch. And keeping dinner lower carb.
I did keto a few years ago and lost loads of weight, but it wasn’t sustainable for me.

Hi OP I'm not currently doing weight loss (I'm pg) but for my wedding 3 years ago I lost all my baby weight through low carbing and HIIT classes, going from a size 18 to a 12 in 3 months. Good luck!

Bookaholic73 · 01/08/2019 15:50

@LittleAndOften well done, that’s brilliant! Did you manage to keep it all off after the wedding?
Luckily my Fiancé is also looking to lose a little weight- we have both gained a bit since being together- so at least we have each other for support!

No - multiple unsuccessful pregnancies and a fear that dieting would mess with my fertility put a spanner in my success. However I fully intend to get back on it when ds2 is born (well, a few months after!) as I know it works for me.

@LittleAndOften sorry to hear of your fertility struggles. And congrats on your pregnancy!
When are you due?

I’ve really struggled with this hot weather being bigger. When I was smaller, I never struggled with hot weather, but since gaining a few stone I seem to not be able to deal with it as well. Rubbing thighs and sweating in all the wrong places doesn’t make me a happy woman!

Bookaholic73 sounds lovely, perfect 👌
We're doing the legal stuff just with sets of parents then actual wedding in may so I'm counting it as two weddings Grin

Yes looking at 20-24 pounds too.
You've got loads of time to do it sensibly

I bought a slimming world diary. About a fiver off ebay. It's a 12 week diary and you can log everything. First week in and I prefer it to fitnesspal because it's more real

@Bookaholic73 and congratulations on your engagement! I'm due in early November. Agree with Handsmaid that tracking everything is the way forward. I like MFP because it has such a big database - it's about finding what works for you. Good luck!

Gosh yes me too!! Getting married on Feb 1st next year. Have my dress but need it altering so need to be at target by then. Only problem is I'm going on a weeks holiday Monday so I'm not weighing until I'm home. I'll probably need to lose a stone.

I'm actually looking forward to my honeymoon when the bloody diary is going out window Grin

@boredboredboredboredbored my wedding is in the 17th Feb and I don’t have a dress yet!
I’m not wearing a wedding dress though, so don’t think I need to buy in advance.

Today I did good. No chocolate or ice cream. Cauliflower rice instead of normal rice with dinner this evening.
I’m aching from surfing last night, so didn’t do any exercise today.

How did everyone else do today?

Book it's exciting isn't it?! My dress is a size 12 and fits fine but needs the length and arms altering, I still would love to lose a bit though. I'm only 5ft 2 around 10.5 stone and feel flabby. We are going to Sri Lanka on honeymoon so lots of bikini wearing Smile

@boredboredboredboredbored Sri Lanka sounds amazing!
We are knee deep in house renovations for the next few years, to add another bedroom for the step kids amongst other things. So our actual honeymoon in The Maldives won’t be until 2022.
We will have a little weekend away after the wedding though, just in the UK.

If you’re anything like me, it’s not really about what size ir weight you are, but it’s kore about how you feel about your body.
I don’t want to look back in my wedding photos and think I look big.

I absolutely agree. It's about how you feel.
I've given up smoking and drinking and now eating ok mosy of the time and doing exercise.... Psychologically I feel much stronger and better.

So are people keeping to calorie diet or exercise?
What is your allowance of calories per day?

It's so tricky keeping focused when you have a job, wedding to plan, honeymoon and life in general.

@Handsmaid I gave up smoking in 2010 and drinking in 2016 and feel loads better for it.
I have had a few sneaky beers recently though.

I’m not calorie counting at the minute. Just eating a lot less chocolate, junk food and carbs.
Exercise wise I think I am ok. We (my fiancé and I) go bodyboarding 2-3 times a week, plus we have several walks with the dogs. So I’m just concentrating on my diet.
Lots more veggies, lots less rubbish!

I find that being organised with meal prep really helps with staying on track, so that’s what I’m going to start doing again.
Plus not having unhealthy foods in the house. It helps the kids eat healthier too.

Are your fiancés also thinking about losing some weight for the wedding?

What kind of wedding are you thinking of?

It looks like we are all looking to drop about 2st or thereabouts.

@bookaholic73 We're thinking a really relaxed wedding, lots of green, foodtrucks, drinks and music! We'll be mixing a few different cultures in the wedding and the biggest headache at the moment is trying to fit it all so everybody is happy.

What are you looking at? Also, hats off for wedding planning AND house renovations. We bought/rebuilt our house last year and I'm glad it's over!

My fiance is also joining me and is looking to drop 5 stones before next year.
