hiya, i am on the first day of doing the pro points plan so havent lost any weight, but just wanted to say 'hi'! i know its been out now for 2-3 weeks, but yesterday was the first meeting where i have been able to stay after and ask questions and get it clear in my head.

its just like starting a new plan all over isnt it? i bought the scales and calculator last night as i really dont think i could do it without. if i start to guess things, i just get all complacent and start to not bother.

wwiw, my leader said she lost 8 and half in the first week, there is nowt on her as it is! but i dont get weighed again till monday so will see how it goes.

i have been doing ww for 20 months and lost a whole 21 poundShock which is rubbish really, i havent actually lost ANY weight this year, but if i dont go and weigh in i would be 2 stone heavier by now!

i would be interested to see how other get on with itSmile

I joined weightwatchers again last night. I did it from my early 20's for 4 years. I then fell off the wagon for 5. My weight did initially stay steady but I have put on almost 2 stone in the last 2 years but have been in denial. Yesterday I finally accepted that Ive become massively fat again and decided to try and get back into weightwatchers.

The new points system seem ok to me, it makes sense that you get more filling food and I love the fact that I can have fruit without spending points on it :). I think it also makes you think more. I spent so long on the original points plan that I could pretty much tell you how many points were in things without thinking. Now I need to plan meals and point them again instead of falling back on old standards.

I didnt dare check out this forum before now as I knew I was gaining weight and also knew that I wasnt doing anything about it but now Im trying again I thought Id pop my head in! Ive gone for weightwatchers as it worked before so I know I can do it. I'm sat trying to points up my tea as we speak and Im trying to plan some meals for when Im working!!

I know its all still new but if anyone has any nice recipes or tips they want to share Id appreciate it :o. Nobody at the group spoke to me last night so looks like Ill need to find support elsewhere :o.

I lost 4 lbs in my first week but that was the last old points week. Then last week, after a really good (or so I thought) week on the new plan, I stayed the same :(
Weighing in tomorrow - hope to have lost Hmm

foxtrottango i know what you mean about tihnking more, i like you, could look at something and have a rough guess at how many points would be in it. now though i have no idea! i have had to start afresh, and hopefully it will be the shock to the system i need to kick my ass back inot gear! every weel my leader looks at me slightly disappointed and gives me encouraging words. well this week i am going to show herGrin at least if my body likes this new plan i will.

a few tips i have found out so far are.

  1. pink and white wafers are 1 propoint

2.costa coffee linzer biscuits are 9 propoints which is the same as an almond croissantShock i would have thought the croissant would have been alot more.

the calculator and scales are really helping me and have used them for every meal i have had at home so far.
anyone else got any tips?

My best tip (the one I'm doing myself) is to find other foods other than bad ones and eat those instead. The points will be less too.
So even if the bad thing has the same points as the healthy thing, I will eat the healthy thing; it maintains my blood sugar far better.

The main negative thing I think about weight watchers is that it still allows you to eat crap. That can be good but also, doesn't go far enough (IMO) to make you change your way of life to really healthy.

So basically, I'm trying to find healthy foods I can love and even crave for.

my mum and i have always said 'you never crave a carrot do you?'!

i understand what you mean tho, i do good till i eat some chocolate or something similar, and then once i have had abit, i want more.

i bought the cookbook too on monday night and have had the eggy bread with bannanas 3 times! its delish. it is supposed to be a breakfast, but i have just had it as i am having tea late tonight. its 4 propoints

ROFL - you never crave a carrot!

Could you post the recipe to the eggy bread banana recipe please?

im going to have to get that cookbook :), sounds lovely.

I have been surprised by some values, things i thought would be loads and were virtually classed as poison on the old plan are now low point. im gutted that baked potatoes have gone up so much :(, they were my staple diet on the old plan!!! (although pleased that corned beef is not so bad, corned beef hash is my guilty pleasure :o)

i made a nice meal last night that wasnt too much pointswise, 2 x chicken breasts (4 points), 4 medallions of bacon (2 points), mushrooms (nil, woohoo!), 80g of dried pasta (cook it before you eat it though, thats my top tip!! :) 8 points) and 80g of light philly with garlic and herbs (4 points). With garlic and black pepper to taste. It made a really big meal for me and my man (who is a very big lad) and was delicious :)

its really easy (of i wouldnt do itGrin)

i will write it as in the book, which serves 2

2 med slices white bread, cut in half

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg

5 tablespoons skimmed milk

low fat cooking spray

2 teaspoons golden syrup

2 small bannanas sliced

you just whisk the egg, vanilla and milk together, pour it over the bread in a shallow dish and leave it to soak for 5 mins. spray the pan with the cooking spray and add the soaked bread to cook for 2-3 mins either side.

put the brad onto a plate, then put the bannanas into the pan, add the golden syrup and let it bubble for 30 seconds. tip it on the bread and eatSmile

i have done it for the last 2 mornings and its not that much more effort then usual weetabix and warm milk! i mix the liquid and leave it on the bread while i get washed and dressed, then just cook it when i want it.

ment to say its 4 propoints per person, i just half all the ingerdients to make it for just me (apart from the egg which i just use a whole one)

Gosh - I weighed in today and lost 3 lbs - so got my silver 7!
It's only my 3rd weigh in so I'm quite pleased it's that much already.

That eggy bread sounds yummy - going to defo try that at the weekend.

I've just followed it for 2 weeks and recorded all the points to the letter, and put on half a pound Hmm. Me and diets just don't get on. It seems to allow me to eat exactly the same amount as normal.

If this happens, do I basically need to reduce the number of points the program gives me - because my metabolism is very slow?! I have even been doing exercise too.

Mole - where you are in your monthly cycle will make a difference.
Are you drinking enough?

Report
lizandlulu · 25/11/2010 18:08

mole how about fruit? my leader said be aware of how much fruit you are eating and not to overdo it. she said the plan has allowed for some fruit, but if you go over the top, it can have an effect on your weight lost (or lack of it)

bigTillyMint · 25/11/2010 18:22

2lbs in week 1
2 1/2lbs in week 2

But I'll be lucky to stay the same this week Shock!

Our leader said that about the fruit too, but she also said you never see someone putting on weight because thaty have been eating too much fruit Grin

Well done all of you on your weight losses, I'm obviously going very wrong somewhere. You're right on the monthly cycle though, it was definitely the time when I'm least likely to lose weight! Don't think I was ODing on fruit either, but perhaps I need to eat less carbs, even if it comes in within the points.
