We got engaged last week and have already:

  • Got a draft guest list
  • Chosen and booked venue
  • Booked registrar
  • Booked caterers
  • Chosen menu
  • Chosen colour scheme and decoration ideas
  • Decided where to spend the day after our wedding
  • Have a good idea of what favours to have
  • Draft ceremony music list and contacted musician
  • Decided on florist and contacted her
  • Shortlisted some make up/hair people

The wedding is on December 2017. I'm feeling very smug...so feel free to give me a medal....or a biscuit.... Grin

You missed organising printed invitations/order of service (if applicable) and rings.

Otherwise, good effort. Grin

Have you been planning it since you were 6?

Have you sent out 'Save the Date' ?? If not you are slacking Grin (joking!)

Does your Fiance know you were just waiting for a reasonable man to come along to slot into the Wedding Fantasy you've had since you were 7? Grin

Do you have a fiance or are you hoping eighteen months is long enough to find one? Grin

And how do you know what you'll want to eat so far into the future?

Good for you and congratulations Smile

You will have to sell all your one direction stuff to pay for it now. I'll take your Harry doll off you for £3.

Have you written a poem about giving cash instead of gifts to add to the invitation yet?

Can I ask why you don't just get married this December as you're so prepared to spring into action with the arrangements?

Report
blowmybarnacles · 05/07/2016 13:01

Scary. Now you'll have nothing more to do except develop your under Bridezilla. Smile

Time for a few weeks off then. Go to the pub instead. Wedding talk can get awfully tedious.

Why do weddings take so long to organise, I just booked the registry office and turned up a month later, I only had three guests though!

When you say "we"...?

If you've been planning this wedding in your head for years, not surprising that agreeing and booking is quick.

I didn't find planning our wedding stressful or difficult either.

Being married is far more important than getting married Smile

Ah, but have you got your frock yet? You can bet the ladies in the boutique will suck their teeth and say you've left it a bit late, but they'll see what they can do.

Ooh you don't want to get married in December....

Tell us what favours you are considering.
Also have you sorted chair swags?

You are going to forget to give your notice of marriage aren't you? December 2016 will come and go. You'll be congratulating yourself on being all organised. Then you'll realise on 1st December 2017 that you never gave notice and you can't get married.

Ha!

I may have had the odd secret Pinterest board stored away Grin

To be fair I need to lose about five stone so most of the rest of the 10 months will be spent trying to lose weight before going to find a dress. That will definitely be my least favourite part of the wedding prep!

Also...I'm a Project Manager by profession so really I'm at an unfair advantage...

Favours will be handmade gingerbread men/women, a Star Wars Lego figure for the guys (relevant to my DP) and a handmade cat shaped Christmas decoration for the women (relevant to me).

Maybe also a sapling Christmas tree if I can be bothered to grow 80 of the buggers.:.

Hehe this just brought back happy memories

My husband BOOKED our wedding before he proposed for that October (booked and proposed in May)
He popped the question on the Saturday and we had everything sorted except the dress by the following weekend 😀
Everyone said we was nuts but we had been together for 5 years, knew what we wanted and wasn't fused about a lar-de-dar wedding
The whole thing cost about £900 and I wouldn't change a thing about it
Too many people we know have spent years planning a wedding, once married they had nothing left to talk to each other about and ended up getting divorced pretty quick

Well done you! This level of organisation now leaves you LOADS of time to be come a 'boring twat bride' AND a 'diet bore' into the bargain. Gosh, how I wish we were friends....
