Ok I've finished Skyrim..finally

Soooo it's only taken 12 months (18 months really, but not constantly playing. It's a complicated formula...involving x, y and Minecraft) but finally Alduin is gone.

Not that anyone seems particularly bothered in Skyrim.

And I have tied up a few loose ends.

Dawnguard and Dragonborn done.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion appeared on my bedside table last week.

Which one?

How about elder scrolls on line? I've not played it a huge amount (since I'm obsessively playing witcher 3) but I'm loving being in a familiar world.

Out of the two I'd say Oblivion - yes it's older and Skyrim was a great improvement in many ways, but the quests and story lines are still great. The main story gets repetitive but the side quests (especially Knights Of The Nine and Shivering Isles) are great!

Ashvis; I've never played shivering isle as I go back to Oblivion so often, it's nice to save some bits...it'll be my 6th time restarting next time!

Gladys, I agree it's great to have different bits to do on a replay, but I've played it through about 6 times too! It's a bit unsettling there, but some very interesting places, people and quests. I haven't done much of the dark brotherhood because I feel guilty killing npcs without provocation. Stupid, I know, it's just a few lines of code, but guilt all the same.
We recently bought a second PS4 for our house as my dh was hogging ours playing destiny when I wanted to play Witcher 3, but it's great fun going questing together in ESO - and we've already run into Sheogorath! And huge hints about Mannimarco! It's making me think about playing Oblivion again...And Skyrim...
4 weeks till ds goes back to nursery and I can game during the day as well

fallout 3. so much better than skyrim IMO, it takes itself a little less seriously and is quite tongue in cheek. depends on the setting you prefer though

Gladys i can sell the older one, but ds2 stays as he's my compass and general rememberer of which quest I was meant to be doing. I get distracted easily.

Same here Ashvis - I did the main DB quests only. agree with the familiarity of the worl,d much of my time in Skyrim (distractions) is spent just wandering, chilling in inns and admiring the view. As well as base jumping off mountains in Etheral form.

Oh now Witcher 3 looks good, however we have an Xbox360 which it hasn't been released on?

Too much choice!!!!!

I think I will try Fallout then Oblivion.

OP, good decision, play both! And buy a platform to play Witcher 3 on because if you enjoy games like Oblivion and Skyrim then I think you need to play Witcher 3. I'm completely obsessed with it just now (and thinking of starting a thread about Triss vs Yennefer). As in Skyrim and Oblivion,you can wander bout admiring views, especially in Skellige (one of the areas you get to explore. Often reminds me of Skyrim). I'm nearly finished it but already thinking about what I will do differently next time I play it through. Even if I'll be playing ESO, Skyrim and Oblivion throughout too!
Is Fable 2 along similar lines BadLad? Will be looking for something different to play soon. I like the sound of brilliant and beautiful.

Fable 2 is a bright colours and feel good game, rather than a bleak, depressing setting. It's more of a fairy-tale style game than a dungeons and dragons RPG. However, it is an action RPG, like Skyrim and Oblivion, although you don't have as many things to level up - just melee combat, ranged combat and magic.

You do, however, have the choice of being a good or evil character, and some of the decisions you make do have consequences.

It's also made with British voice actors - some of the strong regional accents are brilliant - and one of the taverns is real.

Best to read some reviews, but I loved it. Have a read of the //www.gamespot.com review.

Don't get Fable 3. I found it boring, not least because it is set in a bland, industrial setting.

Just looked at Fable 2 and it looks ace. Unfortunately I don't have a 360. Given we have 2 PS4s and a WiiU, I shan't be buying one at any point soon (though if Microsoft follow through on their backwards compatibility pledge I could buy an XBoxOne at some point).
After mentioning voice actors though, you've reminded me that Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean are both in Oblivion. I just looked up Witcher 3's voice cast - I knew Charles Dance did one of the characters, but was delighted to learn Jo Wyatt who does the voice of Tweak in The Octonauts does the voice of Ciri! Would never have guessed! I love watching dh play Destiny cause it's got Tyrion from Game of Thrones and several people from Firefly

Dh has the far cry games, and I love the environment - I hadn't thought to give it a try (cause I can be a bit rubbish with a gun, give me a sword any day!). I did finish Witcher 3 last night though (awesome all the way through, cannot rate the game highly enough) so might well give it a go. All the practise with the crossbow might help me with the guns. I loved the environment in the Uncharted series too, and the puzzle element to it. I'm still grumpy about having to wait until next year until there's a new Zelda game because that's the one I really want to play. Damn you Nintendo for ruining my Christmas! What are you playing BadLad?

Witcher 3 (can't really get into it, though. I think the relatively fiddly way of crafting weapons, compared to Skyrim at least, and the fact that weapons and armour wear out is putting me off).

Armour wearing out wasn't a huge hassle for me cause I was used to that in Oblivion, and once you get armour repair kits it isn't so bad. The crafting is a pain in the neck, though slightly less so since the update and you can pin the components you need. Once you unlock the master craftsmen it's a bit easier. I just love the complexity of all the decisions, and the long lasting consequences it can have. I made a couple decisions that seemed fairly benign, then saw the results of my action (or inaction), sometimes much later on. I started playing it through again pretty much as soon as I finished, largely so I could make different decisions. The ending I got was fine, a pretty good one but it could have been better. And cause I'm getting a bit better at Gwent! I think I'll be looking to buy a Gwent deck for my dh for Christmas, surely someone will make one!

I've been thinking about the Yoshi game (Yoshi was one of my ds' first words, and the first cuddly toy we ever bought him. I really should have bought the game). Will drop hints to my family since my birthday is coming up in a few weeks.

Zelda heaven is definitely right! Love my 3ds. I have a bad habit of not finishing Zelda games because I just don't want them to end. It is very silly, but I think heaven must be Hyrule. Still very saddened about Satoru Iwata. The man was a legend.

I'm more into the action - I always worry about whether my armour and weapons will be enough for a quest, so I like to have the crafting as simple as possible.

I've just finished Fallout 3, highly recommend, especially for a change of pace.

I started gaming last year and played: Fable 2, Fable 3, then Oblivion alongside Fallout New Vegas, I've been chipping away at Skyrim since January and picked up Fallout 3 for a change of pace.

Back to Skyrim this week.

The crafting definitely got improved at the latest update, but I miss crafting an item and not having to repair it!

Haven't got any of the assassin creed games, but I've a mate who has. He's obsessively playing ESO just now so may be able to borrow from him. I was looking at my trophies on the playstation network last night. For years I just used dh's psn ID so there are piles of trophies I earned I'm not currently getting credit for (rock band, guitar hero, Skyrim, loads of Lego games, little big planet etc). It doesn't matter in the slightest, but I'm tempted to replay some of those and get those achievements under my name too! Reading about Skyrim so much here has definitely put me in the mood of some dragon slaying. Easy replay I guess, but I do like a new game. My WiiU is gathering dust (currently only really used to play mario kart as ds falls asleep watching it sometimes) so think I might buy the Yoshi game soon.

Another vote for Witcher 3 here. Absolutely amazing. Trying to get into ESO but hasn't caught my interest the way that Witcher did.

If you like open world, as someone up thread mentioned, Far Cry is fab. Far Cry 4 is set in a fictitious Himalayan Kingdom and is absolutely stunning, not to mention great fun. Once you've taken out an enemy outpost riding on the back of a rampaging elephant you know you are playing an awesome game!

I quite liked oblivion. My vote goes to restarting Skyrim with a different character type. We started with a blokey Nord and am now doing a female khajit named after our cat. I really want to do a more magic character next. With legendary perks you can do loads and you never approach it in the same way twice.

Too many great games out to make it worth restarting Skyrim, I'd say.

If you like gun games, Borderlands 2 is another great game.
