I used to live in Poole but not sure about a lot of the touristy things - Poole Quay has entertainment & Fireworks on Thursdays nights through June, July & a couple of weeks in August.
Tower Park have just opened some new restaurants (TGI's & Nando's)
For shopping Castlepoint & the Dolphin Centre are good.
As for Accomodation not too sure but

Sparkler1 & Surfermum may be able to help you more too

You might be better going to Bournemouth. If you stay in the East Cliff/West Cliff area there are loads of hotels you are within walking distance of the beach, there's a Harry Ramsden's restaurant and loads of places to eat.

There is tons to do. What age child are you looking to entertain?

Hi...are you wanting to stay in a hotel specifically(sp?), or would you be just as ok in a caravan. If so there is a nice caravan (the static type of mobile home ones) at rockley park, which is just a short drive from Poole quay. I don't know how to do links, but there may be some other nice lady about with more brains than me who could find it for you:)

there is tons to do in and around poole and bournemouth and it is fab for little ones:):)

poole and bournemouth have fab beaches, and dog free in most parts too.

I know that at least a couple of the beaches have got blue flags awards too this year:)

Sandbanks and Shell Bay are among the best beaches in the UK right over near the mouth of Poole Harbour

were going on holiday to poole in the summer. its a lovely place. were staying at the sandford holiday park (if you click on mumloves link youll find it under caravan parks) we went to poole before a few years ago & stayed ar rockley park. unfortunately what they dont tell you is that the raf base is next door Angry we were woken up every night by helicopters flying overhead at 2am.

Is that rockley park of sandford with the RAF base near? We're off to sandford bay on Monday!

Try heading towards Studland Bay, or even a bit further down the coast to Swanage. OK, Swanage isn't exactly elegant (typical British seaside town), but it's bound to be a bit cheaper, and if you've a car it's just the same in terms of access to beaches, restaurants, local attractions etc. Try not to go over the weekend, as the ferry acrosss Poole harbour mouth gets dreadfully busy at peak times; weekdays you'll get much more time at the places you want to visit if you don't spend it all queueing for the ferry!

Does anyone know the name of the restaurant just on the Swanage side of the Poole Harbour ferry? I've been told many times that it's excellent (seafood I think) but never had the opportnity to try it.
