Start using Mumsnet PremiumFamily game for adults
(12 Posts)We've done Articulate to death (and have or own DIY version), and I'm searching for a new game to keep the fam busy over Xmas. I have young adult children and quite doddery parents who struggle to remember rules. Any suggestions?
Also - if I exclude the doddery rents, does anyone have any opinions about Pandemic? I quite fancy it but is it any good?
Thanks!
Cards against humanity. Especially with doddery parents.
I've heard of that but someone told me it was quite edgy and rude? Is that not the case? I should have said - as well as doddery they're quite straight laced!
Cards against humanity is very rude haha. Bloody brilliant but lives on the line and sometimes over it haha.
It takes a good read of the rules to digest but ticket to ride is awesome. We all love it in our family and have a good few editions (the original one is the simplest, which is a map of North America)
Oh maybe not if they're straight laced too. Especially if playing with younger adults that may not be as tactful!
Cranium is good!
We like 'Best of British' and the 'Logo Game'. Seem to appeal to everyone.
You could try one of the Exit games. These are good in a small mixed group with problems to solve and codes to crack.
They're one play only though so you throw them away once you've solved it.
Or try a good cooperative game like Forbidden Desert, Pandemic or Castle Panic. You all work together to win. As long as one person knows the rules well they're pretty easy to pick up as you play along.
Pandemic is really good!! Not too complicated. My husband loves board games but I can't get into the ones that have loads of convoluted rules and options. I really enjoyed pandemic.
Right, getting Pandemic! A cooperative, scenario game is a new departure for me. Excited!
Scattergories is the best!
Catan is great but the elderlies would probably struggle.
See I fancy Catan but I fear the oldies would nod off! Maybe one for us four
