Hi wise people I need some practical advice my 4 month old mc has gone missing I have done all the usual things, contacted vets, searched local area and spoken to neighbours.

I am about to print up some leaflets to pop through doors, any practical advice she is not chipped as was due to be chipped and spayed next month. She has been missing since about 5am. I'm going out of my mind.

Is she used to going out or escaped ?
Are you sure she is not in the house. Look in wardrobes, airing cupboard, behind furniture, basically everywhere.

Sorry to hear that. My Maine coon when he was very young would sometimes disappear for 12 hours at a time and i’d Have to go out looking for him. Occasionally found him stuck in places that he’d climbed up (I once heard distant meowing and he was on my roof :-/)
He’s quite old now and doesn’t get up to any shenanigans anymore. I hope your little one is just out having a long play somewhere and you find her soon

Has she been spayed? If not, she's likely in her first season and gone off in search of a mate unfortunately...

How did she get out, at the back or front of the house?

viccat Mon 11-Jun-18 09:26:14

Sorry I missed your line about not spayed yet... so yes, when they come into season they usually try to escape.

Put her litter tray and some bedding outside, the familiar smell may guide her back.

rupertpenryswife Mon 11-Jun-18 10:29:21

Thank you, I have put her litter tray In the back and a blanket at the front, I have spoken to people and leaflet dropped, just about to phone the rspca, I can't stand this she is so sweet but has no sense of being outside. I dread when it gets dark if we haven't found her. I feel like I have let her down.

Any news op ?

KittyLover91 Mon 11-Jun-18 16:55:43

Hope she comes home soon flowers

Wolfiefan Mon 11-Jun-18 16:58:16

Oh no. Did she escape?
Local lost and found FB group.
Don't let on she's not neutered in any posters etc.
inform local vets and rescues.
Check shed and garages.
Get check on return in case of pg.

No news sadly, I have put up posters but not said she is an mc or that she is not spayed.

So what happened was this, we keep her locked in our bedroom overnight as we have an older moggie who has the run off the house and can go in/out of catflap. However my DH got up at 5 for the loo and he let her out, I asked if the cat flap was locked he said yes, he meant it was closed. Never has she tried to use the cat flap we are always so careful.

I am beyond gutted. I don't think we will see her again she is so gorgeous. My DH seems to think 2am is a good time to look!! He read it apparently, we have a lot of building work around here and the builders have been fab helping us but she could be anywhere. 😭

EachandEveryone Mon 11-Jun-18 17:43:49

Its probably the quietest time to look. Have you emptied the vacum cleaner outside?

Frosty66612 Mon 11-Jun-18 17:43:54

So sad :-(
I once had a little black moggy kitten ten years ago that escaped and we never saw her again. I was devesated imagining what might have happened to her, but hopefully someone nice just took her in and kept her.

rupertpenryswife Mon 11-Jun-18 19:35:20

Empty the vacuum why is that? I phoned my pet insurance earlier who told me a story about a neighbour who's kitten went missing and!!!they didn't find her, I said well thanks for that, really what i needed Please keep the ideas coming I will do anything my DC are gutted and I'm not sure I can hold it together.

DH feels so guilty he has been non stop looking for her.

Frosty66612 Mon 11-Jun-18 19:38:47

Is she 100% not In the house still? I’m sure you have looked absolutely everywhere though and would have heard her by now. Was just remembering a time my mum’s kitten got shut in a cupboard for a day and we couldn’t find her.

Frosty66612 Mon 11-Jun-18 19:39:59

Also had a friend whose cat went into a neighbour’s open window and they then went away for 2 nights and shut her in without realising. My friend had to pay for a cleaner as the cat had pissed and shit all over their carpets

EachandEveryone Mon 11-Jun-18 19:54:31

Because they can smell the contents of your house. My friend scattered her vacum bag out of thd kitchen window and over the garden and it helped shes comvinced

Pebblespony Mon 11-Jun-18 19:57:58

Mine got locked in a neighbours shed for a week.

rupertpenryswife Mon 11-Jun-18 20:42:05

I will see about emptying the vacuum,I would happily pay whatever to get he back.

pinkgirl1234 Mon 11-Jun-18 20:57:22

Oh you again, you deluded woman thinking you're married to MY husband!!! wink

Sorry, not funny in the circs. I can't think of any advice to add to what you've already had but just following your thread and hoping like mad that your darling girl returns soon. flowers

EachandEveryone Mon 11-Jun-18 22:06:40

Its just the dust inside. Its free.

SexNamesRFab Mon 11-Jun-18 22:16:42

Sorry to hear she's missing. I found our missing cat recently by recording us calling him on my phone and playing it for hours and hours on a blue tooth speaker at the end of our garden. I also cut up the towel he slept on and hung that all over our garden. Best of luck x

pinkgirl1234 Tue 12-Jun-18 00:42:48

Any sign of her @rupertpenryswife?

You must be frantic by this time of night. Not sure what time it is there. (I'm in NZ).

I'm sure she'll be found or turn up. Some great tips on here!

rupertpenryswife Tue 12-Jun-18 01:28:16

Shinesweetfreedom Tue 12-Jun-18 01:51:38
