The litter tray

Please hand hold I'm devastated

I'm going to have to take my old girl to be put to sleep in the morning and my heart is broken. She has stomach cancer which has come about very suddenly and progressed very quickly - we only found the tumour on Monday. She's my best friend and she's been with me pre-marriage and 3 children and we've been together through so much. I'm absolutely devastated to lose her and so sad that she won't get to sit in the sun again in spring. I feel like I'm trapped in a nightmare.

Aw, my little cat had stomach cancer and like you say, it shows really quickly. You are doing the best thing for her, it's so hard but it's a privilege really to be able to help out pets and always remember the brilliant life you gave her.

I’m so sorry. I know it’s no consolation but you have done the kindest thing for her, probably the biggest act of love you could. She’ll have had an amazing life with you Flowers

Another one who is so sorry, I would feel the same way. Cherish these last few hours, lots of cuddles, photos.

It is the right thing it just hurts so much. Thinking of you

So sorry, it's a horrible decision to have to make but it's the kindest thing you can do. My beloved moggy had heart failure and suddenly deteriorated, it went from me rushing her to the vet one day to her being put down less than a week later. It took a long time to get over it, they are such a part of the family.

ThanksThanks you are doing the right thing. I'm so sorry, it's so tough not to have them around when they've been with us through so much. Truly sucks

I am so sorry Thanks it is such a difficult thing to do, but as other posters have said, you are doing the best for her.

Flowers it’s the most loving thing you can do for her, but it does suck. Be kind to yourself tomorrow.

So sorry OP Sad

We all know the time will come one day with pets, but when it does it is so, so hard. Take comfort in the fact that you can do this one last kindness for her; sparing her the pain and suffering.

So sorry, it's such a hard thing to do. I cried so much over my old boy who was pts with cancer just before Christmas. I still miss him dreadfully but it helps that I have no doubt that we did the right thing. I hope knowing that helps you too. Get all the cuddles you can now. Flowers

I'm so sorry it is the worst part of having animals but you are doing the kindest thing for her. We had our lovely 15yo girl PTS last year (not cancer) we realised at 10pm we had to do it so I called the vets first thing. It was very peaceful and they were very kind.
Strokes for her and WineCakeFlowers for you.

So sorry, OP. I lost my wonderful 15 year old girl to liver cancer a few years ago and it was heartbreaking. She will always live on through your happy memories Flowers.

It is so devasting. I've lost 2 of my old timers in the last 5 years and they were my last connection to the old life I had. I miss them so much and think about them everyday. We all know exactly how you're feeling now. Be with her tomorrow when she's going to sleep. It'll be one of the toughest things you'll ever have to do, but you won't regret it. She'll always be with you Flowers

I’m so sorry. I had to do this for my beloved cat a few years ago. She was my best friend in the world and had been through the very worst of times with me. I still miss her, but I did the right thing and you will too.

Thank you all for your messages of kind support, I've found your messages and words so moving and am grateful to you all. I'm lying on the floor next to her downstairs at the moment. If she manages to plod upstairs to my room then I'll follow her and sleep with her there - this is what we've done the last few nights. She's enjoyed a brush and actually eaten a small amount for the first time since Monday. I'm finding it gut wrenching knowing everything is the last time...and slipping in and out of denial. I can't imagine life without her...

Handhold. She is spending her last night with the person she loves most and you're doing the best for her because you don't want her to suffer

Report
ScreamingValenta · 21/02/2018 23:39

Handhold here too. You are doing everything you can for her by making sure your last times together are peaceful and filled with love, rather than seeing your girl in increasing pain and no longer able to appreciate the time you spend together.

So sorry Flowers. Hand hold for this morning. She won't be in pain much longer. As per owners we take responsibility of loving the through life and death. Doesn't make it any easier.
