Hi
We’ve brought our new rescue cat home today and as it years since I’ve had one I was hoping you lovely lot could give me some tips and advice please? Such as cat litter-there’s more brands than I can count! Which is best? Food? I bought whiskas pouches as that was what he had at the rescue but he will need dry food too-help!

Didn't they feed dry as well at the rescue? I thought most fed a mix of both types. I use Royal Canin (the indoor because mine are indoor cats), and I'm sure plenty of others will be along to recommend theirs too.

Litter should be the same type as the rescue used, at least at first. So if they used clay, start with that, wood pellets then start with that. You can try moving them onto something else that you prefer later, mixing it in bit by bit until it's all the new type.

allergic thanks for the advice. Rescue is run mainly by volunteers and we didn’t get much info. The litter looks similar I bought catsan if he doesn’t like it I’ll have to change it Grin
Fed the dog on Harrington’s if anyone knows if their cat food is any good?
He’s had a ouch and is happy chilling out on the landing. Doesn’t have a name yet either

What a beautiful boy. Is he pale ginger? He'll be happy with the same things he had at the rescue. If you want to add a little variety, just give him different wet food occasionally and see what he likes. You can try dry food from vet or a good one from supermarket. I've been giving my 2 Purina recently and they're enjoying it. Has he got a cat tower/tree, toys and da bird. Happy catting!

I'd call him Mellow Mel Grin

We think we’re going to call him Eric. No cat tower yet I was too overwhelmed with cat litter Grin
Need to get his claws trimmed as he keeps getting stuck on the carpet.

I like Eric. He's right at home with you. Your household must have a very calm air about itWink

mogloveseggs · 17/02/2018 19:52

want2 you must be joking! Not calm at all Grin
It’s funny though in the rescue he was always hunched and looked uncomfortable and they did say he wasn’t happy. He started puring as soon as we walked through our front door and hasn’t stopped since!

He's very handsome.
If you go on to the websites for the various brands, a lot will send free samples so you can try before you buy. Cats are often fussy little sods and you can waste a lot of money trying to find an acceptable food!

They are good that way, safe in the knowledge that as soon as you buy a box of the only one they will eat they will decide they don't like it after all...
