Do I have the most entitled cat in the world?

Last night I had gone to bed leaving teen downstairs. Boy cat 1 was sat on her lap.

He wanted to go out, so came upstairs and cried relentlessly for me to let him out.
Teen had opened the door for him but no, he wanted ME to get up and open the bloody door.

This morning, he started again. Came upstairs and cried outside my (open) door until I got up and came downstairs. I opened the door. He refused to go out. He went to his food bowl which DP had filled before work this morning. He refused to eat it. I picked up the bowl and stirred it with a spoon and put it back down and he ate.

Basically I had to get up, come downstairs and stir the cats breakfast before he would eat it.

Only chance of a lie in for two weeks today and he made me get up and fucking stir his fucking food.

My cat would meow to be let in at the back door, saunter through the house and then demand to be let out the front door.
She'd also ask to go out of one door and if it was raining she'd then make you try the other door.

coffeeisnectar Fri 08-Apr-16 13:06:11

grin Boy cat 2 will go to the door and if it's raining he hisses at it and gets really grumpy while reversing back in. Like it's my fault it's bloody raining.

PreciousPussGirl jumps on to the outside kitchen window sill to ask to be let in, then will sit there once I have opened the door until I lift her in, because she is too much of a princess to come in herself obviously!

I listened to a hypnobirthing cd yesterday. On the floor. Because the cat was on the comfy chair and I couldn't bring myself to move him. I am nine months pregnant.

Lemond1fficult Fri 08-Apr-16 15:42:24

Entitled cat behaviour: I have a pair of harem trousers that serve as a cat hammock if I sit cross-legged.

If my cat spots me wearing them now, she'll circle me, mewing piteously until I 'assume the position'.

coffee you should duck under your covers for a few minutes. If she can't physically see you, she might get bored. Works for me. Sometimes.

coffeeisnectar Fri 08-Apr-16 15:47:35

God, they are so bloody entitled.

Girl cat 2 has jumped on on the chair next to me. Every time I move my arm she bites me. She won't sit on my lap but if the laptop is on my lap she will sit on that. Last night she did something with her huge furry arse and I lost all my tool bars and the cursor.

I do love my cats but they can be a right plain!

Bogburglar99 Fri 08-Apr-16 15:47:46

Bogbastardkitten likes to be let out first thing. But not out of the cat flap. Oh NO. One has to ceremonially get the key, unlock the back door and open it to let him through. THEN he will come in and out through the flap for the rest of the day.

He also climbs into the bath and looks at the taps until you turn them on for him. I automatically did this last night while muttering'I cannot believe I am running a bath for the cat'.

PuppyMonkey Fri 08-Apr-16 15:54:32

My cats are very entitled. Our whole household has moved completely over to Aldi over the past 3 years, we buy NOTHING from Tesco etc now except... Go-cat, as the precious cats won't eat anything else despite valiant attempts to persuade them otherwise. hmm

dingit Fri 08-Apr-16 15:58:14

Dh gets up before me. Sometimes HRH won't go down for breakfast with him, she has to wake me up.
He thinks it's hilarious. grin

dingit Fri 08-Apr-16 15:59:33

Oh, and dm's cat bangs his cat flap like a door knocker, so they open the door and let him in.

exWifebeginsat40 Fri 08-Apr-16 16:02:54

my black and orange kitten howls at me when she wants me to pick her up and cuddle her to sleep. I immediately stop anything I am doing and oblige.

older cat will stare piteously at her food as if I am routinely starving her. I too stir the food a bit and give it back.

given that their brains are the size of walnuts, they are proper shady little fuckers.

coffeeisnectar Fri 08-Apr-16 16:13:38

These are brilliant grin Boy cat 1 used to use his cat flap at our old house as a door knocker too. I wonder if there is a cat school they go to which teaches them how to be 'shady little fuckers'?

JapanNextYear Fri 08-Apr-16 16:19:59

Ours demands to be let out after breakfast (he has a cat flap) and then assumes the position on the garden bench so he can be brushed. Get's right mardy if I just go to work instead.

And he has been known to bully fully grown people into sitting on the sofa with him to pet him. These are sane non cat lovers who just happen to be feeding him while we are away.

He'll also stare at the kitchen chair till DH pulls it out for him so he can sit by him at breakfast.

Shady little fuckers indeed.

jimblejambles Fri 08-Apr-16 16:20:02

Our cat waits for a child to sit on the sofa long enough to warm the chair then nudges them until they move so she can have the warm spot.
She also demands we open the front door if it's raining at the back door.
We bought her an expensive cat bed as she's getting old and feeling the cold. She however has learnt to open the towel cupboard and much prefers that

iloveeverykindofcat Fri 08-Apr-16 17:33:12

Bibi sleeps in my bed. On my pillow. The good one. She has also acquired every good bit of furniture I've ever bought, for herself.
Zara comes walking up the bed, purring. Then I have to say 'pop under, Zee', and lift the covers up, at which point she pops under and kneads my stomach with claws extended, purring contentedly as I cuddle and pat her her to sleep with my arm bent in a ridiculous position.
I just let her knead me. With claws. Because she likes it. [insane emoticon].

IHaveBrilloHair Fri 08-Apr-16 19:05:52

One of mine miaows and miaows at me to get into bed at whatever random time she wants so she can sleep on my feet.
She can sleep on them wherever, sit on my knee, get picked up etc, but noooooooo, I must have my feet where she wants them.

YoungGirlGrowingOld Fri 08-Apr-16 19:18:27

I bought an expensive silk pillowcase for my wrinkly aged face after reading about them on MN Guess where YoungCat now sleeps?

(Am still wrinkly) grin

daisiesinthespring Fri 08-Apr-16 19:19:48

I'm sure mine wait until I've come out of the shower and am wet and naked to decide they need to be let out, now!

GerundTheBehemoth Fri 08-Apr-16 19:29:18

I've been looking after a friend's two cats this week. Girl cat is very independent. I see her for meals and occasional cuddles. Boy cat is VERY needy. In the morning (5.30am) he gets on my bed and prods me repeatedly in the face until I get up and feed him. Later he follows me upstairs to the office where I'm working, and gets into the makeshift bed I put on the floor to stop him trying to get on my lap/keyboard. At lunchtime he fancies something to eat, but cba to go down two flights of stairs, so I have to go down and fetch a snack for him. At bedtime he gets under the duvet with me, and falls asleep, and snores, then when I've finally fallen asleep he suddenly wakes up and freaks out and rushes off, waking me up (again).

PurpleKittyKnitting Fri 08-Apr-16 19:32:08

Our cat is a pampered house cat. We have a timer dish for when we are out, weekend breakfast etc. One Sunday morning he was pestering me to get up . I thought maybe I thought I hadn't set it, or the battery had run out .No....our bit wanted me to get up and watch him eat!

Fyaral Fri 08-Apr-16 19:41:04

Diddums here is sleeping on me. I need a wee but its not happening.

He won't eat food from a tin. Only from pouches or those little trays.

Won't eat any biscuits other than whiskers. They have started putting things that look like dreamies in them so he now picks them out and cries when they are gone.

I feed him when I get in from work. He listens for my car so when I arrive he is running around waiting for me and meowing like a loon.

Sits on you very precariously so you have to hold him on. Gets the megahuff if he slides off.

Has ruined the sleeves of all my cardies and kneads my chest with claws then dribbles. Wipes his wet nose on my face.

He lives the life of bloody riley.

coffeeisnectar Fri 08-Apr-16 19:52:52

Oh yes. The food.

Girl cat 2 has turned her nose up at every food I've offered. She lives on dry food. Won't even eat tuna. I put a bowl down and she looked at it, then looked at me with a look that said 'why are you trying to kill me with this poisonous substance' before stalking off with utter disdain for me.

I've tried every wet food going and won't eat any of it.

TheEmmaDilemma Fri 08-Apr-16 19:56:46

Roobix04 my cats do that too. I want out the back... it's raining... I want out the front... WTF why is it still raining? They appear to want me to control the weather. the fact that there is a cat flap is by the by. They use it when I'm not around. I've just allowed myself to become their servant.

One of them circles the house. In the back cat flap, straight to the front door to go out there...

I give up. I'm too subservient to them now.

hollinhurst84 Fri 08-Apr-16 22:00:04

I had the heating engineer come to repair the boiler while I was out. Apparently the cat cried so much he fed him dreamies, cat then sat and watched him and cried again when he was leaving. He said "I hope you don't mind, I gave him a cuddle and some more treats" hmm
