My sister is about to pay £800 fucking pound for a lab puppy.

Like, about to put a deposit down.

I'm trying to talk her into a rescue pup, but it'll need to be 8 weeks old.

A breed like a lab/retreiver/spaniel etc.

She won't have a lurcher or staffie yes I've tried

Help me quickly find some choices!! I'm googling like mad here!

Try breed rescue (all the breeds you list have them).

Thank you, Juno looks lovely.

Flamingo is too old unfortunately, as is Joop Sad

If she wants an 8 week old lab then best leave her to her original plan.

It'll be hard to find an 8 week old lab puppy in a rescue.

Agree with the two above posters. Could you at least push her in to checking that the parents have decent hip and elbow scores before she puts her money down?

Report
monkeyfacegrace · 30/06/2014 20:01

They have very very low scores hence the price. They are good working pedigrees.

I just can't quite let it rest that her £800 would be better elsewhere Wink

If she lives in Hampshire I know a lady who has collie puppies around £300, 8 - 12 weeks if that is any help? X

You need to already be on the waiting list for that puppy, Follyfoot.

That's the problem to OP will have-you quite often have to already registered and be prepared to wait for an expensive breed of puppy. They don't come available very often.

Can't believe Labs are classed as an expensive breed Confused

I thought there'd be loads of unwanted pups!

Sigh, looks like she will be buying then. And all this searching is making me want one myself Grin

If she's got children she may find it hard to find somewhere that will allow her to adopt a pup anyway. We tried on and off for years.

Ah Snala they are ace! LOVE the black and white girl. Have text her a link.

If she wants a lab puppy and she's done her homework and chosen one with very low hip scores from working lines I really can't see her going for a lab crossed with who knows what no matter how cute the puppies are right now Confused

I'd leave her to it and wish her all the best with her new puppy

Why have you tried to persuade her to have a lurcher or staffie when she's made it quite clear she wants a lab?

Report
scotchtikidoll · 30/06/2014 20:56

I think you need to contact rescues directly if you want a young puppy because they get snapped up pretty quickly and aren't advertised on websites
