I want to switch off, it is so realistic and painful, you know its going to end badly, have switched on mumsnet so I can detach.

Me too. Dh and I both agree - don't think we can watch it to the end.

squeaver · 14/07/2009 21:45

And DH has just explained to me how a "discounted mortgage" works. I feel sick.

DH wants to watch until end and it was my idea to switch it on, I hate it when I get tied up in these things.

Don't usually watch anything that finishes later than 10 but paper gave it a great review so gave it a try, even though missed first 10 mins

how does it work?

i know this isn't going to end well. I do not like Dominic Cooper's character, very annoyed as loved him in Mamma Mia!

Yes, Anna M-M is always brilliant

Dominic Cooper is very good in this too

Nan - just like they've found out. First year, you pay very small amounts then it goes up dramatically.

Horrendous.

it's very realistic. saw the bloke with the 2 kids on breakfast news this morning and he said that most of it was improvised.

Watched this last night and don't usually watch anything past 10 either but was glued to it. Very depresssing and scarily real. Sarah Harding wasn't very good was she?
We are hoping to buy a house next year through a key worker scheme as i am a teacher and went to bed worrying about it after watching it.

I was looking forward to seeing this after reading some of the hype about it, but I thought it was disappointing. The acting was brilliant (Anna Maxwell Martin, Aiden Gillen and Dominic Cooper, especially), but the writing was bloody awful. Stereotyped characters and a predictable storyline - I started to wonder if it was supposed to be fable-like, and found myself admiring the acting technique
